Dogs Best Friend Services Apopka, Altamonte Springs, Maitland, Winter Park, Lake Mary, Sanford, Orlando and surrounding areas. For over 30 years, I have worked with all different breeds to rehabilitate behavior and obedience issues. Also, and even more importantly, trained the humans to communicate their message in a language the dog understands. A happy dog is one who learns rules, boundries, structure, limitations, discipline, and has a strong, consistent and loving human pack leader.

Should I be the Alpha dog by using brute force?
Absolutely not! The most powerful pack leaders are the ones that say and do the least. The way to gain control over your dog is to use calm relaxed quiet energy. Less is more. Besides, people who think they should “alpha role” their dog usually wind up getting bitten or scratched, or worse hurt their dog physically. There are much better ways to be your dog’s “Alpha” leader. Respect is what is lacking here. You can gain your dog’s respect by using calm, relaxed energy instead of brute force.

Why is my dog showing aggression toward people or other dogs?
Most times it's because they were not socilized when they were young. Also, they were never shown how they are supposed to act by the humans in their life. your dog may be nervous, axious, fearfull, uncertain, insecure. All these will trigger aggresion. For example, barking, growling, lunging at guests when they come in the house. Your dog isn't sure what they're supposed to do when the doorbell rings and you open the door. That uncertainty could be the cause. The dog doesn't know what to do so they go back to a primal state which is to bark growl etc. I teach people how to communicate with their dog so they know how to greet with a calm state of mind. I reached out to Paul at Dog’s Best Friend for basic obedience skills for our 8 month old puppy. Upon arrival, Paul quickly assessed that our puppy Lucy was doing well and needed only minimal assistance with things like submissive urination, barking and jumping. But Paul was very interested in our rescue dog. We adopted him 4 years ago and he has severe PTSD from a past life we have no idea of. I have been told by other trainers that his issues are too severe to correct. Paul asked to see him. By the end of the 2 hour session our rescue dog was feeling more confident and responding to the information Paul had given me. I am in disbelief that the simple, straight forward techniques he showed me are assisting my little man to have more confidence and feel better. As one example, the yard crew came by today, and he didn’t bark once at them. I know I will need to continue to work on our new skills. But I feel confident going forward, so does Murphy. I can’t thank Paul enough. I’m excited and grateful.
If you believe in a choke collar and your dog ends up with a cough after 2 hours, this would be your guy. If you want to be told "Good luck, your dog is so stubborn", this would be your guy!
Paul was amazing. He is so knowlegable about dogs. My two Dobermans were so unruly and now its crazy how well behaved they are once we were shown how to understand them. Paul was so calm, and doesn't make you refinance your home to train your dogs haha.
