I had a great experience with Dog Owner’s Academy. From the initial visit to all of the dog training sessions it was clear that they knew what they were doing!
I grew up with dogs from the age of 3 so I know a good bit about dog behavior myself. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and even did phone counseling work for several years. Dogs and people are both mammals so our motivations and needs are very similar. Additionally, we co-evolved with each other for approximately 30,000 years,
I hired them because of dog on dog aggression between my dog and another dog on the premises with a different owner. Since my dog initiated the attack, the trainers watched her closely for any other signs of aggression which were not present. Ultimately, they determined that my dog was trying to protect me in that particular situation and is not generally aggressive. To make sure they brought other dogs over to my residence after training her to sit on a mat. She showed no aggression towards any of them which confirmed their beliefs.
More recently, we have started walking the dogs involved together without incident. We would have never been comfortable doing that without their guidance!
The bottom line is if your dog needs some training then hire the trainers that know what they’re doing and these guys DO!

We are so impressed with this company and our trainer, Jay. This guy is like a dog whisperer! He is so knowledgeable and was so in-tune with our dog’s guarded behavior. Under his supervision our dog, Panda, was able to relax and feel comfortable during the very first introduction. We are very happy with our experience with Jay, and Dog Owner’s Academy!

We’ve had an amazing experience with the trainers at Dog Owner’s Academy, especially Dom, Caelan and Jay! From the initial introductions, to home lessons and then transitioning into group lessons, our experience has been catered to the unique needs of our dog and family. We have enjoyed being able to continue tweaking and building on our dog’s skills through the group lessons and can work 1:1 with the trainers at any time where unique instances come up throughout her life. We didn’t have any real complaints about our dog when we first signed up for training, but looking back, I can’t imagine life without it! Our dog has a better relationship with our cats because of the training she’s done with us and we love feeling confident that we can take her almost anywhere we go (on and off leash). We will be forever grateful for what Dog Owner’s Academy has done for our family!

We simply can’t say enough good things about Amya. We adopted a chihuahua/pomeranian rescue who had experienced a lot of trauma during the first nine months of her life and had been moved around from puppy mills to shelters to foster homes. She was terrified of everything. She would shake and cower when she saw strangers, she wouldn’t come to us when called, and she kept having accidents indoors. After consulting with Amya and Dom, we decided to do at-home lessons so she would be able to learn as she slowly adapted to her permanent home. Amya was so gentle and patient with her, never rushing her, and gave us homework to do between lessons. After just a couple of lessons, we had a confident puppy who had started coming out of her shell. She no longer shakes or has accidents and she loves meeting new people. We’re so happy to see her bubbly personality come through! We know this wouldn’t have been possible without Amya’s patience and compassion, and it’s evident she truly cares about each dog she works with and adapts to fit their needs. Thank you, Amya!
