Dog Academy of NC, LLC – 2‑Week Board & Train Program I recently enrolled my dog, Neno, in the 2‑week Board & Train Program at Dog Academy of NC, LLC, and I am extremely pleased with the professionalism, structure, and overall quality of the experience. Michael Ward demonstrated exceptional training skill, consistent communication, and genuine care for Neno throughout the entire program. Training & Results Prior to training, Neno was a 2‑year‑old dog experiencing challenges with obedience, leash reactivity, confidence, and occasional aggression toward me. During our initial meeting, Michael listened carefully to my concerns and assured me that improvement was attainable through the program—provided I maintained consistency at home once the 2 weeks were completed. The program offered a solid foundation in obedience, confidence‑building, and behavior management. By the end of the training, Neno showed clear progress in leash manners, impulse control, and overall responsiveness to commands including sit, come, down, stay, and pillow. It was evident that Michael customized his approach to Neno’s specific needs rather than relying on a standard training model. Communication & Updates I received consistent updates from Michael and his wife, Sandra, throughout the program. They allowed me to visit 3–4 times per week to participate in training sessions, which was extremely valuable as I lacked confidence and experience. Michael demonstrated patience during every session and welcomed all questions. One lesson that stood out—and that I carry daily—is his teaching that energy plays a major role in clear communication and effectiveness with your dog. My involvement in these sessions helped me feel connected to Neno’s progress even while he was away. Facility & Care The facility is clean, organized, and safe. Neno was well cared for, and the kennels were climate‑controlled and maintained appropriately. Michael and his family were attentive to all dogs in their care, and I personally witnessed their commitment to maintaining a supportive, comfortable environment. Owner Support & Transition The transition session after training was extremely helpful. Michael thoroughly explained every command and offered guidance on how to maintain Neno’s progress at home. I have also enrolled Neno in daycare at Dog Academy of NC, LLC, and this has been an excellent decision. Although training is now my responsibility, Michael continues to provide ongoing support, addressing questions and offering clear, practical guidance when challenges arise. During Neno’s daycare visits, Michael provides feedback on areas needing additional work, which I greatly appreciate. The availability and continued support from Dog Academy of NC, LLC have made the long‑term training process smooth and successful. Overall Impression Dog Academy of NC, LLC provided a reliable, structured, and highly effective board‑and‑train experience. Neno returned home with better manners, increased focus, and improved behavior across various environments. I highly recommend the 2‑week Board & Train Program to any owner seeking professional training with strong communication and meaningful results. However, I would not recommend this program to owners who are not prepared to remain consistent or actively participate in maintaining their dog’s training once the program ends. Long‑term success requires commitment from the owner as well.

We are beyond happy with our choice to have our puppy trained and cared for by the Dog Academy of NC. Michael’s method emphasizes dog psychology and being able to properly and effectively communicate and develop a relationship with your dog. We have been able to create a calm and respectful dynamic while still letting her be the super silly, happy girl she. We have loved that throughout this process we still have our goofy girl, but now she is a listening and more confident goofy girl. We are also super appreciative that Michael will let dogs he has trained come for boarding and daycare so we know our pup is with someone we trust, dogs we know are well behaved, and she is keeping her manners! Our puppy (and any future dogs we get) will be coming to Michael and his family for the rest of her life! This is easily the best decision we have made for our family!
