Divine K-9

We added a 2nd dog to our home and very quickly she started exhibiting unwanted behavior; namely, resource guarding for food, toys, even human affection. The dogs had several full-on, drag-out fights. She would also growl and snap if anyone got near her food dish even when it was empty, and we were really worried one of us was eventually going to get bitten. We reached out to Divine K-9 and with Jorge’s help we have been able to do a 180 in terms of her behavior and how we need to manage the dynamics in our home. 5 sessions remotely with Jorge via FaceTime have made a huge impact on our lives. Jorge constantly stressed his willingness to talk or FaceTime day or night and there were zero issues with it being remote. With cameras on he could easily watch us as we went through the training with our dog, and he would model the behavior he wanted to see by demonstrating it first with one of his dogs. Jorge is extremely knowledgeable and communicates the training instructions easily, so even our young daughter could understand. Every time the experience was personal and the outcome the same as if we were meeting in person. I will recommend Jorge to anyone who needs help with their dog(s). He’s absolutely outstanding and we’re so thankful we found him.

We got our dog when he was about 8 months old. As he got closer to age 2, he started having some negative interactions at the dog park and growling at other dogs on leash walks. When I heard Jorge in an interview on WPR talking about B.F. Skinner and his learning theory approach dog training, I was intrigued. One-on-one virtual sessions have been really helpful. Jorge asks for details about our dog's interactions so he can identify the cause behind behaviors. He explains how to shape dog behavior. He teaches techniques specific to our dog's behavior, observes us using the techniques, and gives feedback. Practical tips, such as exactly when to provide a treat and which treats to use, have made training much more effective. Jorge progressively adds new games and skills to keep training interesting for us and our dog. Dog walks are much more peaceful and I am looking forward to getting back to the dog park.

Like many others, we adopted a rescue dog during the pandemic. She developed leash reactivity while on walks, so we decided to get some professional help. We are so happy we chose Jorge! He helped us every step of the way. He would communicate through text, FaceTime, phone calls and zoom meetings if we wanted to record them! He went above and beyond to make sure we knew the lines of communication were always open. We were hesitant with the virtual set-up, but they were great! He was able to engage everyone in our dogs training, even our 2 young kids! He gave us all the tools we needed and also helped build our confidence to help implement them. I contacted Jorge for some help managing my German Shepherd's barking and impulse control. We did 4 hours of virtual training sessions and I can't say enough good things about the experience. Not only have I seen progress with the barking but he also helped me reinforce basic obedience and gave me some techniques to help build on what we learned. Jorge was reliable, professional, patient and would answer questions between training sessions too. His responses were as close to immediate as you can get and he gave me all the information needed prior to the sessions to make sure our virtual time was effective and successful. Our family adopted a pup from a shelter during the pandemic. We have 3 little kids and cats, and we are so thankful that we found Jorge to help us train our sweet pup via zoom!
