I hired Mike for a six-week on-site training with my year old Dutch Shepherd mix, Kova — a rescue dog with significant behavioral challenges. She struggled with severe separation anxiety, escaping from her crate, counter surfing, leash pulling, not responding to commands, jumping on people, and more. Throughout the six weeks, Mike helped resolve many of Kova’s behavioral issues and, more importantly, taught me how to effectively train and redirect her in a way that truly works. His approach is rooted in understanding dog psychology — focusing on what the dog is thinking, rather than just what we want them to do. That perspective made a huge difference. I truly appreciated Mike’s calm, thoughtful style and the results speak for themselves. Highly recommended

We recently had our dog, Ghost, go through the 2 week board & train program and immediately saw such an improvement on his listening skills. Ghost is doing so much better on walks and is responding to verbal commands. When we picked him up, Mike spent over an hour going through what they were working on and ways to continue working with Ghost. We received pictures and text updates throughout the 2 weeks which was great. We are continuing to use the methods that were taught so that Ghost can continue to learn and respond the way he should.

Finding the right dog trainer is difficult, especially with all the trainers popping up on social media. What you won’t find online is the training partnership that you will experience at Dirt Road K9. We have by far made the most progress training here than we have with other trainers. If my dog could leave a review it would be 5 stars. He knows exactly where he is going when we turn down the road and whines with anticipation. I look forward to every session with as much anticipation as my dog knowing that we leave each session more skills and confidence. It’s a training experience I will never regret.
