Digman Canine Academy

From the minute Claire walked in our door, I knew something was different. Her initial assessment was spot on how our 15 month old golden retriever lacked in confidence and needed to overcome his anxiety of meeting other dogs. We signed Bentley up for the 2 week board and train. I told Claire that it was just as tough dropping Bentley off with her as it was dropping my boys off at college. She was reassuring and so great in sending videos, text updates, calls and best of all social media posts that my friends could see what amazing progress he was making. It melted my heart to watch him run and play with other dogs!!! He did have some separation anxieties that led to some special requirements that she didn’t even think twice about and ended up leading to a training exercise while visiting the vet. When she brought him back home, she kept him in training mode when we first reunited with him– it was tough, but so important and it made sense. She spent an additional 2 hours while dropping him off making sure we understood and her techniques and practiced heeling, “place”, people coming to the door and more. “Place” is an amazing place! It works and is an awesome retreat for him to relax and just regroup. Walking is a joy, that is me walking him, not him walking me! Thank you Claire for all your efforts, I would put this at 6 stars if I could.

I was drawn to Digman Canine Academy from its consistently glowing reviews and testimonials provided by pet parents whose dogs had made great strides with Claire. We signed up for at home training and we’re so glad that we did. My Sebastian came to our family having been recently surrendered to a city shelter. He’d been badly neglected and traumatized in his past. In his first weeks with us Sebastian was highly anxious, impulsive, confrontational, and aggressive. I could not have a conversation with neighbors while on a walk with Sebastian due to his relentless snarling, barking, lunging, and yipping. He also lunged and nipped at guests in our home making it impossible for visitors to enter and feel safe. An experienced owner of his breed (schnauzer), I felt confident in my ability to manage my dogs’ behavior. Sebastian, however, required more than I knew how to give, and we needed help from Claire and Digman Canine Academy. Claire provided Sebastian with the discipline he needed to feel secure in his own skin, and she provided me with the skills I need to maintain that discipline according to his needs. Within a few weeks of at home training, Sebastian noticeably became calm and demonstrated an ability to control his impulses. Now guests can enter our home whilst Sebastian stays quietly in his “Place,” and on a leash Sebastian walks at a steady and relaxed “Heel” position even when encountering passers by. Thanks to eight short weeks of training with Digman Canine Academy, I can now talk to my neighbors with my boy quietly waiting beside me, and I can invite guests into our home confident in their comfort and safety during their visit. Thanks to Claire, today, our Sebastian is calmer, happier, and much more secure today. Working with Digman Canine Academy was the best decision for Sebastian’s health and wellness, and it was a great experience for us. It's always a pleasure to work with Claire at Digman Canine Academy. Her experience, patience, and method of training has helped many difficult dogs. Dogs with dangerous dispositions prone to injuring other dogs or people learn to relax and listen to their humans. Nervous dogs build confidence and even become outgoing. Whether your dog is difficult, dangerous, timid, or just a big goofball, both you and your dog will benefit from training with Claire. I wish I could work with her all the time but I no longer live close enough!

I cannot even start to express how grateful we are to have found Claire. My 2 year old Golden Retriever has been through multiple private training in the past and nothing has worked. We enrolled Max in a 2 week board and train and the progress was unbelievable. Just when we thought Max was untrainable, Claire worked her magic. Max worked on his anxiety, uncontrollable excitement, and loose leash walking. Claire kept us posted through out the two weeks with pictures and videos. When she told us he’d be able to hold his stay for over an hour, we were all shocked and impressed. Claire also taught us so much about how to communicate with Max and how to help him feel confident in himself, which has helped him get over so many of his fears. Hands down the best dog trainer and we will definitely be back in the future. Would highly highly recommend to everyone we know!
