Dog training is all about forming a cooperative relationship with your dog.
Willing, eager, compliant, smart, mannerly. Listens and follows directions! A dog who is polite, easy to live with and fun to take everywhere with you.
Our goal is to teach your dog how to listen and follow directions from the whole family using positive, reward-based methods that do not rely on physical strength or intimidation.
Our instructors will give you the tools you need to build communication and a satisfying relationship built on mutual respect and trust through kind and gentle training. Group classes start monthly, beginning through advanced levels.

I'm confused, is this place really only open for 3 hours at 6 pm???
Group family dog training classes are held weekday evenings from 6:00-9:00PM, Monday thru Thursday, and on Fridays from 4:00-5:30PM. There are also daytime classes on Wednesdays 11:00AM-2:30PM and Thursdays, 2:00-4:30PM. Weekend classes are held from 9:00AM-4:30PM Saturdays and Sundays. Trainers also schedule private lessons and behavior consultations by appointment during weekdays.

We have taken classes with our 9 year old and 1 year old border collies the past year. Throughout our dogs lives we have done classes in many states, including behavior, agility, CGC, and fly-ball. Without a doubt, DITR offers the best of positive behavior training, dog psychology, and a mix of fun and interesting classes. We didn't stop taking classes all year because we learned something new in each one and our knowledge and the dogs just kept growing. We will miss them when we move this summer as we know from experience that this is a very special place that will be very hard to match.

Travis helped us so much! He was committed, to helping our young, hyper, and obsessive dog live a better life. We learned a ton, our dog loved him, he put so much care into our private sessions, and the price is beyond reasonable. I wish we had gone to him when we first got our dog!
10/10 recommend a private session. I'm sure their classes are great, too!

We've only had one session so far but I'm impressed and excited to learn more. The trainers are very nice and knowledgeable! I can't wait to update once we get through the first class.

Do not waste your time with these people. We have a 2yr old great dane mix who is fairly excitable in new situations. He is a rescue, we've had him a little over 2 months. In the first class that you bring your dog to, my husband was asked to leave because our dog was over stimulated. And when I say leave, I mean booted from class. We had paid for a class bundle for the beginner/intermediate/advanced class. They would only refund the intermediate/advanced class payment because they said the class already started. THEY told my husband not to bring the dog back, he didn't go to a few classes and quit. If they aren't skilled enough to help you through a basic situation like an over excited dog you should take your business elsewhere.Then they had the audacity to send us an email stating we could do private lessons at 100$ per hour. What a Joke.

Fabulous dog training. I will say this though: this style of training is a "train the trainer" style deal. It requires *you*, the dog owner, to become a trainer. The positive reinforcement techniques are clever and effective, but they require constant repetition and at home work. My clever, easily bored herd-dog mix responded really well, but we definitely had weeks where it felt like no progress was made. But at the end of the full puppy program, I could see just hope far we've come. I will definitely be going back for the spring courses. It's an investment of time and effort, but it's worth it and the wisdom of these trainers is amazing.
