Deridder Dog training Studio

I cannot say better things about the training team at the studio. I came in with a 2.5yr old Shepherd/Malamute rescue who was very dog/people reactive due to anxiety/instinct and most likely had a bite record I wasn’t told about. Sirius (the dog) and I did the 6 week program and needed every single session. Session 1 was great, Sirius was happy to have a job and earn treats. Session 2 was also awesome and Sirius did great while I needed a bit of coaching. Session 3 was a wreck. The dog couldn’t focus, he had pushed my nerves all week and I was at my wits end. The team was SO great with us, and just kept encouraging me. By Session 4 I was ready to fight the dog bare handed (I would lose) and Travis was awesome. I left feeling encouraged that we had made progress and that this aggressive wreck of a dog had potential that I was too involved to see. Session 5 saved my relationship with the dog. Being able to take the dog for a walk with him at a heel opened up the neighborhood to us, it meant that he could gain exposure to people and other dogs, and it gave us something productive to do together. Session 6 was awesome was the perfect note to end on. I felt like going to training each week was a breath of relief for both Sirius and me. I left feeling like I had been coached and feeling that Sirius had a good time. I have recommended so many of my friends bring their dogs! My only regret is that I didn’t take a “before” video. Sirius went from an anxious (medicated for it) dog who expressed his anxiety through aggression to a people/puppy/kid/kitten/horse friendly dog who let a kid pull on his ears this morning and greeted the AC repair guy with nothing more than an alert “Boof” this afternoon.

We could not be happier with our experience at Deridder Dog Training Studio. We have been struggling with some reactivity issues with our dog Jax, we live a few hours away so we opted for the board & train. I was extremely nervous about leaving my dog anywhere, but Travis and Ashley addressed all of my concerns and made me feel at ease. Their passion for helping dogs and their owners is obvious. Our dog had a great experience there and we have learned so much in our follow up training sessions. I now feel like we have the tools to continue to work on his obedience and work through his reactivity. It turned out to be worth the drive when we could not find anyone in our area that we were comfortable working with. You cannot go wrong with Deridder Dog Training Studio!!
