DePaw Dog Sports and Training Academy

I attended the puppy basics course with my five month old monster terrier mix baby and the instructors were incredibly helpful. Aside from the lessons and their structure, which was well paced and laid out, they also come around and do individual help if they see you/your pup struggling with a certain task. They also send out emails with the lessons attached the day after, so if you ever miss a class you’re still getting all of the information you need! All in all, it’s a very fun and informative class and it was of course precious watching the puppies get to know each other. The only thing I will say is if you have a puppy who gets overexcited about other dogs like mine, they might struggle to focus—especially with all of the sports training going on—but even then the instructors try to help with that too!

We have had a blast this past year going through the sport puppy/pre-agility foundations, obstacles, and handling series at DePaw. It’s been a fantastic way to raise my first agility dog, not just in agility itself, but also in building a strong bond on and off the field. I also loved watching the shy/nervous dogs gain confidence and start having fun! Our instructors (Debbie, Marilyn, and Cassie) are all so knowledgeable in modern training methods and the curriculum is very organized. I highly recommend DePaw, whether you are serious about competing in agility or just want to train your dog for fun! Now, on to competition classes and trials 😎 Savannah & Mars

We enjoyed the puppy class but were a little disappointed that there was really only one other pup in the class regularly. I've already been doing the training with our pup at home, so the purpose of going to the class was just socializing with other puppies and working on training with more distractions. Cassie, the trainer, helped by bringing Apollo, her young adult Aussie, but I had hoped for a larger class.
