Crossroads School of Dog Training

Cara Putnam's dog/owner Training was an educational and enjoyable experience. I'm pleased with how much was accomplished in the ten lessons. Belle (a Hurricane Harvey rescue) has problems with dogs and cats and I was reluctant to take her out in public. Belle's behavior is improving and I gained confidence to handle the situation by giving the right corrections. Taking Cara's training lessons is the best thing I've done for Belle and for myself. I can not say enough good things about Cara and her dog training classes. We adopted a rescue puppy that was found living in a canal in the country. He was 3 months old when we adopted him. He was so friendly and loved everyone. We brought him home and took him places to socialize him. Over the next few months his personality changed. He began to not trust strangers and bark and growl at them. He began taking items and hiding them under our bed or kitchen table. He began to only trust me and not my family until one night the only person who could touch him was me. I knew we had to do something. In desperation I searched dog trainers and found Cara. We began training with her in July when Christopher was 7 months old. The beginning was rough, because he is one stubborn Chiweenie, but Cara was always supportive and always available to offer advice. There were a lot of ups and downs I had with our puppy and I cried more than once while talking and training with Cara. She was always supportive and always knew what to do to help Christopher and me. At one point we were debating returning him to the shelter due to his behavior, but we decided to trust the process and to give him the chance and complete training. Christopher completed his training and flash forward to November he is a different dog! He still has his moments, but he is so much better and a much calmer dog. He has learned his role and is such a happy and trusting puppy now. I just took him to the vet this week and he didn't bark or even try to bite the vet. He growled once when the vet entered the room, but Cara had taught us how to deal with that. It was amazing! I don't know where we would be without her. She is truly amazing and our family and Christopher were so fortunate to find her!!!
