Cottonwood Ranch And Kennel

Ted is a god-send! I was lucky to rescue a wonderful but un-trained and rambunctious 2-year-old chocolate lab (who I love to pieces.) My strong-willed rascal would pull on the leash, counter surf, chase coyotes, forget her name, etc. etc. etc. My neighbor, who had sent his pup to Ted 12 years earlier, gave me Ted's number. After spending about three weeks at Cottonwood Ranch, Iris (my scoundrel) was a changed pup! She now walks nicely with me on leash, comes when I call her, and actually waits politely for her food. (I kid you not.) Not only does Ted have wonderful and kind training techniques, he is an animal lover. And he is always available when I need his help. Whether for training advice or lab advice, Ted always saves the day. Finally, Ted and Vanessa are the only two people I would trust to look after my dogs (apart from my parents, of course.) Thanks Ted and Vanessa! You are amazing.

No doubt Ted Hoff is a dog whisperer. He whispered to our dog and saved her life. Let me back up 14 years ago. Gina was a one-year-old rescue. Not sure what her life had been before she became part of our family, but it was clear she felt the need to assert herself around other dogs, mostly other females. Her aggressive behavior (only dogs, not people) made it difficult to board her. One kennel owner who could not manage Gina suggested we just put her down. Then a friend told us about Cottonwood Ranch & Kennel and Ted’s unique skills. When we picked her up after about a month, Gina was a changed animal. We spent several hours with Ted so he could train us to be good parents and the rest is history. Gina is now almost 15 and a happy, healthy dog who spends months at Cottonwood, her second home, when we travel. She howls with delight when our car nears the ranch and leaps out of the car, tail wagging, to greet her second set of parents, Ted & Vanessa. Oh and Ted also donates countless hours to help Second Chance Humane Society with challenged rescues, rehabilitating too many to count. He is not only good at what he does, Ted is a good man. Period.

I am sorry that i did not report this place for animal abuse when i used it years ago. I had called and asked about their ability to care for my shy dog who preferred women to men, and they were confident they could care for him. I called during our vacation and they stated he was fine. When we picked him up, he was obviously traumatized, caked with feces and urine, and had lost significant weight in two weeks. It was a truly horrible sight, my children were crying, we could hardly drive because he smelled so bad. Then "Ted" was verbally aggressive toward me and told me i should kill my dog, our family pet. Be forewarned.
