Unfortunately, Ted’s services were completely ineffective, useless and a disappointing waste of time and finances. We got our dog back much worse off than when we dropped him off..... complete disaster, not trained whatsoever and he came home with injuries on his elbows, incredible anxiety, and a severe parasitic infection! We sent our pup there for the 30 day boarding and training. Our expectation was to have him train our dog to learn commands, become well behaved and walk without pulling on a leash. Simple right? Apparently not, as our dog learned relatively nothing during his stay other than more poor behaviors. He now barks constantly at everyone he see’s and at everything he hears at the house and everywhere we take him..... which he DID NOT do prior to his training. He's filled with anxiety. The occasional barking yes, he would do, but now it’s completely out of control. He’s now impossible to take on any walk anywhere or to any store without intense pulling, barking and running around uncontrollably. He refuses to stay in his kennel since returning home, something he didn’t have any problem with prior. It’s been two weeks that we’ve had now with our dog home. We’ve tried over and over to follow Ted’s simple yet useless method to calm and walk him in the backyard. No amount of resets work, he seems fearful and timid which was not of his character.... and all we are doing is pulling at his collar on his neck with limited to no response. The kicker too.... we were never shown the facilities in the beginning or at pick up. Something I was bothered by and felt was very unprofessional. They just had us drop his things on the lawn and say goodbye. I had to email with info about his current feeding schedule, activities performed, medicines he took..... we were told they would write every detail down when we got there but no one did. We were never given real, concrete information what he would do to train our dog, other than ‘become best buds’ and our dog came home with severe diarrhea, which our vet diagnosed as Giardiasis. So, it’s our fault for not being more insistent to ask for a tour of the grounds and facilities, discuss training experience/techniques employed and find out what his expectations were during the 30day stay in details. There was no itinerary given, and no questions asked about our dog specifically and not much correspondence during his stay except for a few too brief emails that told us nothing about anything he had been doing or learning. Now we see why, it seems he wasn’t learning anything. We never thought to ask if our dog got sick, would they take care of him, have him looked after by a vet??? I don’t know how long his infection went unnoticed and untreated, but a dog that has 11bouts of diarrhea in one day, needs to see a vet!!! It’s a shame we’ve had this experience, and we hope our boy will recover from his experience with a new trainer.....as he’ll need much, much more TLC and behavior training now after this stay. Ted offered to have him back for more training, but how could I leave him in his hands again after all this transpired. I just cannot. I do hope my review will save others from the same poor and improper treatment and ineffective training of their precious pet. Hope you will be sure to ask more questions than we did and ensure the trainer you leave your pup in the hands of, actually intends to follow through with proper training and keeping your dog in good health during their stay. Maybe Ted and him were best buds, but he certainly isn’t any better off for it.

my dog came back from teds extremely scared, and was way too happy to leave his place. i leave my dogs at kennels when i travel and i never seen my dog react this way in 6 years. my dog was terrified of this place, and something seemed incredibly off with the owner. also my dog had to be taking to the vet right away where he got bad case of kennel at teds ,that ted hid from me! he never told me this when i picked my dog up. i spent 100s at the vet to get him treated. my dog also pooped in the house the first night he was so shookin up from that place which my dog also never does. something is extremely off about this place and i'll never return here. i highly recommend not taking your dog here.

As a first-time dog owner and the owner of a high-energy dog (an 11-month old Vizsla), I was looking for a board and train program that would both reassure my fears of parting from my pup for a whole month and also be an effective training program to help my dog learn his manners, leash skills, and off-leash recall. I found all of that with Ted and am SO pleased that we sent our Vizsla, Gable there for a month of training. From the first moment we met Ted (over the phone as he answered our many questions) we knew he was a professional and most importantly, cares for every dog as if they were his own. Ted sent us pictures and kept us updated about Gable's progress over the month and thoroughly walked us through how to reinforce the training when we went to pick him up. Gable is now a much calmer, responsive dog who understands that his humans are his leaders thanks to what Ted instilled in him. We will be returning to Cottonwood for boarding and would highly recommend to those with new dogs or stubborn behaviors alike!
