Amazing! Kathleen Valentine is the best trainer we’ve found in Boulder County. Her use of fun games and positive reinforcement to train both puppy and our family how to communicate and to behave, expresses a deep philosophy of love and appreciation for a puppy’s natural instincts and desire to make things work. When our puppy arrived at 13 weeks old we were desperate to get some puppy kindergarten going and signed up for 3 different classes. The first one was a crazy house and he came home confused and had to unlearn some new tricks. Another was a strict obedience class where a spike collar was immediately slapped on our Captain, and we were mixed in with “lifers” who were turned off and sour, along with their frustrated families. Kathleen’s Cosmic Dog Training is a literal breath of fresh air that celebrates a puppy’s natural enthusiasm and helps him gain control of himself without losing that joyful spirit. What a gift. We are excited to take every class she offers!

Kathleen is an expert dog behaviorist and trainer. I adopted my now nine month old standard poodle Remy six weeks ago and we have been in training with Kathleen now for five of those six weeks. I say “we” because I am in training as well. I have taken on this challenge of raising a puppy at 80 years old. So, at my age I needed all the help I could get! I could not have asked for anyone more knowledgeable, supportive, and understanding than Kathleen. Her playful and kind approach to training has helped to take the stress out of training for the both of us. We have had some challenges, but Kathleen has helped guide us through every step of the way. I have bombarded her with questions for sure, but she always comes up with a good solution that helps Remy and I work through it. I come away from each session, knowing that she wants us to be successful and success is our #1 goal. We have been doing scent work training with Kathleen for about 6 months. Her approach to dog training in general has been effective while keeping it gentle. It’s a cooperative effort which has strengthend the bond between my dog and I. I’ve learned a lot. The scent work specifically helps my high energy dog burn her mental energy and she has become more confident and even better on walks. We are so grateful for Kathleen’s offerings!
