Copperwood Kennels

I can't say enough about how amazing Matt, his facility, and his program is. My dog has completed the beginner program with Matt, and I am beyond happy with the tools she came home with. Her ability to return to hand is flawless, her steadiness in the mutt hut is impeccable, and her skill marking her birds is flawless. My DD returned home a skilled retriever, but still the sweet and loving little darling she was when she left for school. We have decided to return our girl for the next level of training with Matt and his crew. I am confident that this will unlock the skills she is capable of. Matt has gone above and beyond with DD's training, including tailoring a program that will help me be able to work with her at the highest level despite my disability. I have been disabled since long before her first round of training, however my disability was exasperated by a vehicle collision. I may be in a wheelchair this season, and Matt and his team have created a program that takes this into account and teaches her specific skills to accommodate my situation. I will end this book of a review with this. Copper wood kennels is the only place in the entire northwest that you should consider for your dog. Anything else is a disservice to your dog and you.

We currently have our Labrador Retriever in Matt's training program for the second round of training. We could not be happier with Copperwood Kennels! Matt has gone above and beyond in keeping us informed, in the logistics of handing off our dog to him and back, and in making a plan for our dog and implementing it. Our dog DD is a very gentle mannered dog that requires a very soft hand. Matt has been able to hone her skills so she can be the best hunting dog possible. She learned invaluable skills from Matt that we were not able to teach her at home. DD was sad to leave Copperwood Kennels and super excited to go back. After the first round of training, DD was still as loving and sweet as she was when she left. She loves to play but now understands the difference between work time and play time, which she didn't before training. Matt and his team are professional, thoughtful, thorough, and are able to handle anything that comes their way. My husband is physically disabled and depends on a solid waterfowl retriever and Matt has tailor-made a training program for DD so my husband can count on her to retrieve birds every time without fail. I honestly can't say enough good things about Copperwood! I recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality trainer.
