Confident Canine with Julie Taylor

We have a 3-year-old standard poodle named Sophia, who is very sweet but badly needs guidance toward good behavior. I found Julie online when I was looking for a set of lessons I could gift to my wife. I was initially interested in the AKC Canine Good Citizen course. We were instantly attracted to Julie, and Sophia reacted well to her. Each session began with Sophia running off some energy with Julie’s standard poodle Pippin. Then we got down to business. We loved the way that Julie listened to our needs and suggested a program of customized goals that basically followed the Good Citizen course but was modified for our particular needs. We bought a collar and leash specific for Sophia’s needs from Julie and she taught all of us the proper techniques for walking our two dogs around people, with other dogs present, and among various distractions. We learned how to use the equipment correctly for the best results. Sophia learned the “Place” command, to be used when visitors arrive and any time when there is extra chaos in the house. We found this to be very valuable. We learned techniques for quieting Sophia’s barking in response to all sorts of stimuli. Julie has a cool device for making sounds like doorbells, door knocks, phones ringing, and all sorts of things that Sophia loved to react to with loud barking! We also learned techniques to stop the way Sophia would jump on visitors to greet them. Julie accomplishes all of this training with positive reinforcement. Sophia is a very smart dog and quickly learns the lessons without any harshness or negativity. Julie helped us to form a plan of action leading to success for Sophia and us.
