Condition K-9

If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband and I hired Robert Murtaugh of Condition K-9 for 8 in-home dog training sessions, paying $1,195 upfront. Things started fine-ish, but by the 3rd visit, the problems began. Robert missed a scheduled session without calling or texting. When I finally reached him, he rescheduled for the next day and we explicitly confirmed he would be at our next regular session the following week. However, he no-showed again, no call or text. I called and left a voicemail. When he finally called back, he blamed the holiday weekend followed by other excuses, but he had known about the holiday and never communicated the need to cancel. He even used the excuse that he had been to too many Pink Floyd concerts and forgot. Due to the lack of professionalism, we decided to end the training. We had received 4 visits (including the evaluation which turned into an evaluation/session), meaning we were owed a refund of $597.50. Instead, Robert insisted we switch to a different plan we never asked for, claiming our refund would only be $400. He constantly delayed us. He also claimed that he did not understand why we were upset with him and kept on with his excuses. When I refused to let it go regarding the refund, he ended with someone named "Mo" would call to handle it between 10:00 and 5:00 the next day and that he's "done talking about this". I had to text Robert the next day that I had not been contacted in that time frame. Mo then reached out. We agreed to the refund of $400.00 to get it over with and received it via Venmo. Getting our money back proved to be a nightmare, one that we are glad to be over. Based on what my husband and I experienced, this is our personal opinion: Save your time and money. Look elsewhere for a dependable dog trainer.

I highly recommend Rob for dog training and general pet advice. He has been incredibly patient, not only with my dog, but with me as well throughout the training process. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that training is just as much about the owner learning how to properly communicate and give direction as it is about the dog learning commands. Although I already had a strong bond with my dog, this experience has strengthened that bond even more. Rob’s approach is calm, engaging, easy to understand, and he truly makes the process enjoyable. He gives practical techniques and exercises to continue working on at home, which has made a huge difference in our progress. I’ve also noticed he works well with all different types of dogs and personalities, so it’s clear he’s very experienced and knowledgeable with various breeds and temperaments. I’m extremely happy with the results and grateful for the positive experience. I would definitely bring my dog back for more training. Recommended 100 %.

Robert is the absolute best! His calm demeanor and understanding of dog behavior has been a huge help for JuneBug. I adopted Junie from Freedom Brothers rescue less than a year ago. She is so perfect until she has to meet new people. Then her over-excitement causes her to act dominantly and can progress to unwanted behaviors. Robert’s training and guidance have been instrumental in helping her become the best doggo she can be. He not only knows what to do to correct the behavior but he understands her why. Combining both of these things and formulating a plan and targeted training exercises has already been such a huge help. I highly recommend Robert and would trust him to work with any and all dogs and dog parents.
