Companion Dog Obedience Services

I have taken both obedience classes and conformation classes from Companion Dog. Glenna is so intuitive, gentle, knowledgeable, and RIGHT ON. She has helped me train two of my dogs and her help has been invaluable. Her daughter and grandson are awesome, smart and are so good at reading dogs and offering such valuable advice. They all truly want the best for their students, both canine AND human. Always fun and beneficial - our happy place!

We came to Glenna at the recommendation of our Vet, Dr. Dana Coover (who is amazing, btw!).  Our dog started exhibiting trauma responses due to our nextdoor neighbour, who was continually harassing us. We were worried that we wouldn't be able to help our dog recover from these repeated, traumatic experiences, but with Glenna's help, we've been able to make significant progress.  Glenna is very encouraging of us, and praises us for our work even when we think we haven't done enough.  She's very mindful of teaching us how to pay attention to our dog's signals, so that we can make sure we don't put them in situations in which they could be easily overwhelmed.   She understands that the most important part of training a dog is training the humans handling them, and she is good at training the humans.  She is honest and direct without being harsh or pessimistic, and she makes efforts to express praise and encouragement for the progress made.  I've often felt like we're not doing enough and have been very judgmental of myself, but Glenna always makes sure to point out the points of progress that she sees, and to help us feel good about the work that we're doing. I wish we had known about Glenna when our dog was a small puppy, so we could have enrolled in the Puppy group classes she offers. Glenna is kind, knowledgeable, and most importantly: she is honest, and will be honest with you about her perspectives on your dog and your specific situation. We're really grateful for Glenna's help, and our dog is doing so much better now.  Thank you!

I started basic obedience in May 2023. My pup was 9 months old. Many times I thought “this isn’t working.” It wasn’t the class, it was me. I was so stressed because he wasn’t doing what he was supposed to do. Glenna said “relax and have fun.” She was right. It was like a light bulb came on and we both started enjoying the class. Fast forward to May 2024. We are still taking classes. Moved on to intermediate/rally. He has gotten his CGC and we’ll be doing our first rally competition in a couple of weeks. Glenna shows kindness and CALM. She demonstrates the tasks we are working on and my little guy just loves taking his classes. I would highly recommend Companion Dog. I had taken classes with Glenna about 15 years ago with my previous dogs. That is a testament to how confident I am in her ability as a trainer.
