Coming up on six years with my girl Bota 🐾💛 and it felt like the right time to finally share this… From the very beginning, the experience with this kennel was seamless. You were kind, communicative, and so flexible throughout the process, which made all the difference. Six years later, I’m still grateful every single day. If you’re considering a golden, I can’t recommend this kennel enough. Bota is the best thing that’s ever happened to me—and it all started here.

I was seriously considering buying a Golden Retriever from this breeder. However, after speaking with the employees along with the owner over email, and after reading their Yelp reviews I will be going elsewhere to buy a Golden. I did not like the responses I received from the breeder and I felt like I was somehow annoying them and the answers I received to questions I had as they were very vague and abrupt. Also, before you buy from them read their Yelp reviews. Yelp will give you honest reviews about this breeder. No thanks! Update: I never made an appointment with this breeder as they were so rude when they emailed me back. I'm not sure why they have falsely claimed that I did make an appointment with them in their defensive response to my review. I also find it interesting how the owner says they wish I had spoken to them first before going to Yelp. I did speak to the owner directly when I was treated so rudely. However, anyone that is considering purchasing a pet from this breeder can gain a clear understanding of the type of person they are dealing with, based off of the owner's responses to their negative reviews. I would not recommend this breeder based off of how the owner spoke to me and by the way they answered my questions, as if I was a bother to them somehow.

After losing my senior dog, I became interested in golden retrievers after seeing my friend’s golden with her baby. He was such a good dog, and she told me she got it at Colorado’s Finest Kennels and Ranch. I decided to get my first golden, Loki, from Colorado’s Finest Kennels, and he is my soul dog! Just perfect in every way! 🥹 So a few years later, I went back to Colorado Finest Kennels and got my second golden pup, Maui. Both of my goldens are the best pups ever! They have great, loving personalities and are SO good with my small kids! We just adore them! And Debbie was so great to work with, and I will always recommend Colorado’s Finest Kennels to others! I very much debated writing this review. My aim is not to discredit, but to make other families aware. This is a truthful review and story of our experience. When we adopted our Goldador puppy, we were so in love and so appreciative of this breeder not having exorbitant prices. They made our little family of three, including our four year old, complete, so and I initially sang their praises to friends and family. Only 11 months after adopting our puppy, he passed away. He had just turned one the month before. We did not have a necropsy performed, but our vet agreed with us that his death was the tell-tale signs of an Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) - the position of his body (not curled up in pain) and the nature of his passing (a burst of excitement and full out sprint), and no other signs of struggle or discomfort. I wish now we had had the necropsy performed to be certain. So, yes, this is conjecture, but as stated, our dog was found laying as if he just collapsed. We checked him for other signs of damage, kick marks or injuries, snake bite, etc. While rare, Goldadors CAN receive the gene if passed down and CAN die from it. Upon notifying the breeder to ask them to inform other pet parents of the same litter so they might have their dogs tested for this genetic condition, the breeders were remorseful but did not give our claim any credence, citing their opinion that our dog died of a neurological or cardiovascular disorder. Also hard to believe because he had just had his one-year vet appointment and left with a clean bill of health. It is important to note that EIC is considered a neuromuscular hereditary disease, and most dog that suffer from it are excitable, energetic, muscular, athletic and in good health. Our puppy was all of those things. We had no idea about EIC or other genetic conditions present and typically tested for by breeders. When we asked if the breeders perform any genetic testing, the answer was “no.” Again, I’m not trying to discredit them for not performing genetic testing (we had no idea it could be important - in fact me one year ago would have scoffed at the prospect of performing genetic testing on a dog intended to be a house pet). After our experience, I would recommend it be done by everyone, especially those looking to adopt a Labrador or Goldador for sport. Upon further reading, unfortunately, we’re not the only family who adopted from this breeder and had a dog suffer a similar death. Now, a year ago, if we received these genetic results and we saw that there was a chance, what would we have done? Honestly, I don’t. We were completely ignorant of this condition or what could happen until a month ago. For reference, we’ve reached out to several other Labrador breeders in Colorado, all of whom freely sent us all genetic screening and certifications of the dames and sires. Going forward, I could only recommend to my friends and family members to adopt a bred puppy, especially a Labrador or any breed crossed with a Lab, from a breeder who offers genetic testing on their dames and sires. I’m not saying don’t purchase a puppy from this breeder, but do so with eyes wide open. We made a commitment to welcome a puppy into our home after six years without a dog, and less than one year later were left with empty arms and broken hearts.
