We are very sorry to hear about the injuries you sustained and recognize how difficult this entire situation has been for you. However, we do need to respectfully disagree with the characterization that Coastal Pines K9 failed to provide appropriate training, instruction, or support.<br><br>From the beginning, we were transparent that Lady was an exceptionally difficult and high-risk case. Her behavioral history, level of drive and reactivity, as well as her previous e-collar training with another company, created challenges that required very specific protocols, consistency, and careful progression. Those protocols were communicated for a reason, including clear direction regarding where Lady should and should not be taken at particular stages of training.<br><br>Unfortunately, those protocols were not consistently followed. The incident described occurred while Lady was being taken into an environment that we had advised against at that stage of her training. With a dog presenting this level of reactivity, progressing beyond the environments and situations she was prepared to handle created risks that we specifically worked to avoid.<br><br>There were also significant interruptions and inconsistencies during the training process. We completely understood that the tragic loss of your husband understandably disrupted training for multiple weeks, and we worked with you through that extraordinarily difficult period. However, that interruption and the subsequent inconsistency necessarily affected Lady's progression and cannot fairly be attributed to a failure of the training program.<br><br>Regarding the claim that we simply walked Lady while you watched, there was a deliberate progression behind our approach. With a dog presenting Lady's level of reactivity and risk, our trainers first needed to establish and demonstrate reliable handling and appropriate responses before transferring increasing responsibility to the owner. Having an owner immediately handle a highly reactive dog in situations they are not yet prepared to manage would have been irresponsible and contrary to the safety protocols we were trying to establish.<br><br>Our commitment to helping did not end when the original training package concluded. Because you lived approximately two hours from our training location, we offered on multiple occasions to make that drive and work with you at your home so we could observe Lady in her everyday environment, ensure the protocols were being implemented correctly, and provide additional support. Those offers were declined multiple times.<br><br>For these reasons, we do not believe it is fair or accurate to suggest that you paid $8,000 simply to "watch the trainers walk the dog," or that Coastal Pines K9 failed to do its job. We invested substantial time and effort into a particularly challenging case, communicated the risks involved, established protocols based on those risks, and repeatedly offered additional assistance even after the purchased training package had been completed.<br><br>It is also important to acknowledge that concerns had previously been raised about another training company not producing the desired results with Lady. When multiple professional training programs encounter difficulties with the same dog, while recommended protocols and consistency are not maintained, it is neither fair nor objective to place responsibility entirely on each training provider.<br><br>We understand that this outcome is upsetting, particularly given how much you loved Lady and the injuries you sustained. We genuinely wish the circumstances had ended differently. At the same time, we stand behind the work, guidance, warnings, and additional support our trainers provided, and we cannot accept responsibility for outcomes resulting from circumstances outside of our control or from protocols that were not followed.<br><br>Thank you,<br>Coastal Pines K9 Management
