Coastal K9

I highly recommend Dan and Coastal K9. We adopted a 2 year old golden retriever who had a great temperament, but had no training in the first 2 years of her life. She didn't know any basic commands, wouldn't walk on a leash, and was extremely stubborn when I tried to work with her on my own. After researching dog training approaches, I decided that I wanted to trainer who would work with me and my family (rather than doing a week long board and train or something like that) and who would incorporate e-collar use into the training. The reason for the e-collar was because she ran out of our yard a few times and we were concerned about her safety. I contacted Dan and he spoke at length to me about our dog and our training goals. He recommended the "model citizen" package. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about accomplishing all our goals in relatively few lessons, but Dan was great and his experience exceeded my expectations. By lesson 3 she was like a different dog. She was more confident and happy. We built mutual trust and bonded through the training exercises. Now neighbors and people we meet in public always comment on how well trained she is. We can even trust her off leash in our yard (with the e-collar), which we didn't know if we'd ever be able to do. I can't say enough good things about Dan. He's knowledgeable, patient, and a good teacher both for people and pets. We're now working toward registering our girl as a therapy dog and enjoying every day with her. Thanks Dan!
