Chicago Canine Academy

My partner and came to Jim after my two pit mixes got into a fight with each other. It was a very stressful and emotional time, but the moment I called and met with Jim, I knew this training was going to be different than any other training we had tried. Both went through the 2 week bootcamp. Jim encouraged us to come during that time as well to work with them, and man, what a difference. We needed the training just as much as they did. It's a different type of training than what I've had ever done. BUT IT WORKS IF YOU WORK. 8 months later, we are still going to the weekly Saturday sessions, and I never would have imagined the amount of progress both the dogs and us have made. It's the highlight of our week, being part of a community that just gets it. And anytime we need boarding, we now have a safe place the dogs can go and I have complete faith knowing they are getting taken care of. Jim, Algis and Diane and the whole team are pretty much the dog's (and our) favorite people on the planet now.

I cannot believe this place is still open. It has been 6 years since I brought my dog, Uno, here, and I still carry the guilt and heartbreak from that decision. Like any loving pet owner, I thought I was doing something good for him. I trusted this facility to help make our lives better, but it turned into one of the worst experiences either of us has ever gone through. What happened to Uno during his training is something I will never forget. No dog should be treated the way he was. The methods used here were cruel, and I truly believe fear and abuse were used to force obedience. Watching the effects it had on my dog was devastating. I trusted Jim and his Son with a member of my family, and I deeply regret it. If you love your dog and want them to be safe, please think carefully before bringing them here. I would never want another owner or another dog to go through what Uno and I experienced.

We couldn't have done it without them. Took our dog last November for the 2weeks boot camp. The best decision we could have made for the both of us. After training we followed up every week and still going. I have to say it was very challenging at first but we stayed the corse. The out come is worth it. Thanks Jim for your special team.
