Champion K-9 Dog Training

Silo is our family's second German Shepherd. We lost our first, Cali, in 2024. She left some really big paws to fill. When we decided on another Shepherd, I had zero regrets about the breed, but looking back, I wish I’d talked with a trainer first. Not to talk me out of it, just to sanity-check our lifestyle, travel, expectations, etc. I went in thinking- - I've got this myself and we didn't need a trainer when I have YouTube and already raised one Shepherd from a puppy. And maybe I could have, but not with the same results. Rick brought structure and consistency we just wouldn't have had on our own. He focused on tools like the prong and e-collar when appropriate, made sure the fit and timing were right, and read our dog and us. There were plenty of moments where it wasn't Silo needing correction, it was us not staying consistent, not even realizing it. That outside eye was invaluable and probably most important thing we learned. We wanted a family dog, one that alerts without being over the top, can travel with us, camp, hang out on the boat, but also chill in the house without tearing everything up. Twelve sessions later, we're really happy with where Silo is and with how we're handling her. Rick helped integrate a new family member in a way that fits our life. If you're thinking about a dog (especially a working breed) even before you bring one home, talk to Rick . And if you already have one, I'd definitely recommend him.

Could not have asked for a better experience. From the very first time I met Rick during the free consultation he was nothing but helpful and encouraging. Rick helped put together a plan that was best for my dog (Elliott) and for me/our lifestyle. Rick offers board and training as well as in home sessions, after meeting Elliott and learning how he had bounced between homes before me Rick decided in home sessions would be better for him and his confidence and was he right! Elliott went from shying away and being nervous after corrections to being confident and able to engage and grow through our sessions. When I first got Elliott there was a lot of brotherly tension between him and my senior dog but with Rick's help his confidence grew and he learned boundaries making them bow thick as thieves always snuggling! Rick worked with my crazy schedule, communicated often and early to confirm appointments and lesson plans for the day, and provided all of the treats and tools for training. Overall for the personalized experience, providing all tools, and lifetime availability for follow-ups/refreshes/concerns, the price is great. So glad that I found Champion K9 Dog Training and that they were able to help mine and Elliott's confidence grow!

We had an excellent experience with Rick for dog training our 9 month old Bernese Mountain Dog, Sprout! His training style was exactly what we were looking for and Sprout responded very well to it. He really customizes his training based on the individual dog and what our family wanted to achieve. Sprout was destructive around our home and Rick gave us many tools/tips to help Sprout break those habits, along with many other skills. Sprouts pal, our Pomeranian Carter, even joined in on some of her training… mostly for the bonus treats. Sprout wouldn’t be where she is now, without Rick’s expertise! Happy customers, happy pup!
