Cedar Valley Canine

We did a lot of research about what trainer we wanted to use for our new dog Raider, a German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix. He was a rescue from Fort Campbell Military Installation at about 5 months of age and we quickly found that he was unlike any other dog we had previously. Ever since our last dog went the Heaven (where all good dogs go), we kept our eye on Middle TN German Shepherd Rescue to adopt so we figured we would call them to find out if they recommend anyone and that's how we found Dave and the gang at Cedar Valley Canine! We booked a site training visit for an hour and Megan was the trainer assigned to Raider. She was terrific with very clear concise instructions for us and she was super good with our dog. Our goal before the next appointment, was to keep up with the commands Megan showed us so we could be on our way to a well-mannered puppy. We set one more hour long session with Megan, but after the in-between three weeks had elapsed, we figured the best thing for us and Raider was to schedule the two-week board & train. We had a date scheduled and dropped Raider off for his Doggie Basic Training...and off he went with Megan like they were old friends. We missed him a lot, so the only negative thing I have to say about the program (but not enough to lower my review to below 5 stars) was that we did NOT receive frequent updates on Raider until we asked for something. There is a Report Card function on our puppy portal and it was never filled out. We did find out when we picked him up, Megan took a few videos and more pictures. Again, not enough to lower my review, but something that irked us a little...but had zero bearing on Raider's training. The day came for us to pick Raider up and it went super smooth. We had a few hours with Megan and she went over everything that Raider while he was there and allowed us the same opportunity to go over the commands. We were shocked and in awe over how different (and well-mannered) Raider was. We now feel way more confident moving forward with a solid base of training for us to build upon with Raider at home. We will most certainly make use of our two additional visits (maybe select one of them at our home) with Megan just to go over the commands and techniques as a refresher for the three of us, but mostly me and my wife! Haha. As I stated before, my only issue is the lack of informational updates from them during the process. My two suggestions: 1. Since the staff frown upon dog parks as a method of dog socializing, maybe have a bi-yearly event for all training customers to come to Cedar Valley Canine to get together for some hooman socializing and more importantly doggie socializing. 2. Sell apparel...I would love to rep Cedar Valley Canine up here in Clarksville. Bottom line is that we highly recommend Cedar Valley Canine for dog training! Dave is very knowledgeable & a beacon of dog training information and Megan is absolutely wonderful. Only wish we made the decision earlier to get Raider scheduled and trained up. Good stuff guys, keep up the great work!!
