CANIS - Dog Behavior & Training

Kaitlin and the team at CANIS completely exceeded my expectations. I enrolled my 2-year-old Miniature Schnauzer in their 6-week Board & Train program after struggling with significant reactivity toward both people and other dogs. To be honest, I had reached a point where I wasn't sure how much progress was even possible. I can confidently say I was wrong. From the very beginning, Kaitlin was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and patient. She was always responsive whenever I had questions and did an excellent job keeping me updated throughout the program. I really appreciated the regular videos and report cards, which allowed me to see my dog's progress week by week and understand exactly what he was working on. It was clear that a tremendous amount of thought and care went into his training. Most importantly, the results were real. My dog is now calm, obedient, and far more confident in situations that used to be overwhelming for him. Before training, taking him out in public was stressful because I never knew how he would react. Now I'm able to bring him to grocery stores, coffee shops, and other public places, even in his carrying case, without worrying that he'll be barking, lunging, or becoming a nuisance. The difference is remarkable. What impressed me most is that the training wasn't about suppressing his personality. He's still the same happy, playful dog, but now he has the structure and obedience to navigate the world successfully. The team also made sure I understood how to reinforce everything once he came home, which has made maintaining his progress much easier. If you're on the fence about investing in training, especially for a reactive dog that seems like a lost cause, I can't recommend Kaitlin and CANIS enough. The professionalism, communication, and quality of the training were outstanding, and the transformation in my dog has genuinely improved both his quality of life and mine. It was one of the best investments I've made for him.

Christiana took my two bitey pups that were impossible to manage out of the home into first-class citizens! Everyone at this facility is extremely talented & knowledgable in what they do as well as kind, compassionate, and genuinely caring. I am so pleased with how far my boys have come during the 6 week board and stay. During their training period, the facility provided weekly updates on the progression and well-being of the dogs through report cards, photos, and videos which was very much appreciated. The pups love going back for boarding, day camp, and other weekend trainings like the City Dog classes, which is proof to me that they feel safe and loved at Canis. For the first time in 6 years, I am able to confidently take my dogs out in public and this is all thanks to the wonderful hard work of Christiana! Thank you, Christiana, Bobby, Brennan, Hunter, David, and every single amazing person at Canis!

Canis is the best! We were desperately looking for a day care for our two GSDs after the place we booked for two days was not equipped to care for our dogs. It was a stressful situation because we were in the midst of a move and had packers at our house. From the second I spoke with the intake coordinator to the time we picked up our babies they were in the absolute best care! Our GSDs took to the day play coordinator like they already knew her, no barking, no whining, no hesitation. Blue, our boy went straight to the coordinator and gave her a kiss on her nose. That has never happened! My husband was in disbelief how safe our two GSDs felt. As a parent of two reactive rescue GSDs you have no idea how much of a relief that was. The facility is great and they have a awesome day play program to keep your dog engaged. I wish we had found Canis earlier. We are leaving the state. Highly recommend!!!
