CANIS - Dog Behavior & Training

We recently entrusted our foster dog/now our dog, Evie, to Canis for a six-week board and train program, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. From the moment I arrived for her consultation I was impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and the commitment to canine welfare that Brent embodies in his beautifully maintained facility. The entire staff at Canis is extraordinary! Their kindness and passion for dog training and behavior shines through in every interaction from the moment you enter. A special shout-out goes to Kaitlyn, who is truly the best trainer I could have hoped for. Her patience, expertise, and personalized approach made a world of difference for Evie. She’s a reactive dog and although she wants to love on people, her trust isn’t there and she gets scared. Under Kaitlyn’s guidance, I saw incredible improvements in Evie's behavior, and she has emerged from the program more obedient and confident. Evie absolutely loves Kaitlyn, as do we, and she is so excited to see her every time we walk in the door. Additionally, I am grateful for the ongoing training classes and the valuable advice and support provided. Canis has been more than just a board and train facility; it’s become a critical part of Evie’s continued development. I sent my dog to doggy boot camp here. She's about 60 lbs so I thought having a well trained dog was important. They trained her wonderfully- and maybe more importantly trained me so I can hold Sue to her training. I love them at Canis and it's one of the only places I feel comfortable leaving my dog when I go out of town. It's a great community. UPDATE 5 years later, my dog is still well trained. Think the money I put into Canis to have her trained was an excellent investment. Just picked her up after my trip and she is happy and loves it there.

We enrolled our 12lb rescue Chihuahua mix named Theo in the 6 week board and train program. Christiana was our trainer and we can’t say enough good things about her! She was patient, kind, persistent, and invested making sure Theo’s training was tailored to our lifestyle. During the program, Theo worked on impulse control, basic obedience, socialization, and general good doggie citizen behaviors. Before we rescued Theo he was a stray dog who had been living on the streets, so he needed the basics in all areas of dog life. It is so amazing how much he learned in 6 weeks, and it’s absolutely because of Christiana’s dedication! She is just an amazing trainer of dogs and teacher of people. Many thanks to Christiana and the entire team at Canis for giving Theo such an amazing start in his new life as a house dog!
