Transforming two lives at once, Canines With a Cause (CWAC) pairs rescued dogs with veterans affected by PTSD, TBI, and MST, offering complimentary, personalized training classes to become psychiatric service dog teams.
Veterans are guided through the process of training their own service dog, working consistently over time to develop reliable, life-supporting skills and tasks. These tasks, tailored to each veteran’s unique needs, may include deep pressure therapy, interrupting distress, waking from nightmares, retrieving items, medication reminders, and grounding.

When we applied to this program we heard nothing but phenomenal things about the team and the program itself. They offer to help train your own puppy or let you adopt one of their pups to train yourself and your new best friend to become a certified service dog.
I am myself a disabled veteran and we were accepted into the program over a year ago. We kept up with a rigorous training program that help our pup become a better listener and stronger at performing tasks that are required for the certification.
The staff we met were amazing and Chloe, our trainer, was always ready to help and answer any questions. She went above and beyond for us in the program. She stayed late, came in on non-training days and was always there for us when we needed her.
If you get a chance to join this program I would whole heartily recommend it.
