After several phone calls to various dog trainers, could not get a person on the phone. Found Canine Magic and got Terry, a friendly and knowledgeable voice on the other end of the line. I could tell instantly she cares for the animals she trains and takes great pride in it. So by the end of the phone call Terry had invited my fiancé and myself to observe a class. We showed up and watched all the dogs varying in age from 7 months to a year or so in age. All dogs were obeying commands and performing in ways that we wished our puppy would. When Terry brought out some distractions for the dogs, all refrained from chasing the distractions. My fiancé Kristen and myself looked at each other and said no way in hell Piper, our then 4 month old hound mix rescue, would be so obedient under those conditions. So we signed up and saw improvements the very first week after the first lesson. We made great strides with each lesson thereafter. To our amazement, the day the distractions came out in class, Piper did not budge and obeyed our commands. The class sizes are just right and the attention given throughout is nothing short of amazing. Terry actively watches all of the dogs behavior throughout all of the class and provides assistance and insight as necessary. I would definitely (and have) recommend Canine Magic to anyone looking to train their dogs, as going through the training has helped us gain confidence that our pup is going to behave properly and safely, and when he gets a little rambunctious we know how to easily correct that behavior. In 2015 I owned my first Doberman Puppy. Before finding Terry I went to every dog training class from basic puppy to the advanced "good canine citizen" training. However, my dog still pulled on her leash, barked at people on trails and I even got threated by people that they would call the animal control officer for having an uncontrollable dog. After a few weeks with Terry's training my stress level of owning my dog dropped and now I could enjoy her off leash in the woods and walking down the street without fear of not being in control. Terry actually trains the owners more than the dogs. She shows us how to successfully use the training collars with positive reinforcement and never ever for punishment. We use the lowest setting to get the response we want from our dogs and give praise. I had 6 fantastic years with my Doberman mostly off leash everyday on the trails and orchards. She loved the freedom and so did I. My Doberman past last year and I got a new Doberman puppy named Penny. This time I didn't go through all the other training, I went right back to Terry again for training. My wife and I are once again enjoying long walks everyday off leash and having a dog that heals correctly in public. There is something "magical" about the training. I recall how in one lesson Penny was healing on her leash. It's actually amazing how fast the dogs learn with proper training. I highly recommend Canine Magic. - Keith Marciniak

I had gone to several dog obedience classes with my young dog and felt only "just" in control of my boy. A few conservation walks during which my dog ran off into the woods and across the street convinced me I needed a more comprehensive approach. Canine Magic delivered on all fronts. Terri and Mike developed an 8-week lesson plan tested over many years before I arrived. 8 weeks seemed like a huge investment, but it was so incredibly gratifying to see the progressive improvement from week to week. Terri was not just training my dog, of course, but me! I was leery at first of "zapping" my guy, but it only took a few lessons and some reminders to keep him on track and WITH ME! My confidence is so much greater now; I know Luigi will come when I call him, and I can walk pretty much anywhere without fearing annoying anyone or losing him to a car. The lesson plans were thoroughly thought-out, organized, and clearly explained. Terri provided clear feedback and corrections and invited calls for help during the week before our meetings. Luigi now excitedly waits for his e-collar to be fitted, and there's almost no zapping involved anymore. It's been a liberating experience for both of us and has actually improved the bond my dog and I share. One of the best investments our family has made: thank you, Terri!
