Canine Coaching With Chris

Five months ago we adopted a 2 yr old Sheepadoodle. He is a very sweet dog but he was anxious and had not been socialized. He was very reactive when on the leash and when someone came to the door. I worked with him and he improved but I didn’t know how to address the anxiety and reactive behavior he was exhibiting out of fear. We were leaving on vacation so it seemed like a perfect time to leave him with Chris. When we returned we were able to take him to the farmers’ market, something that I was not comfortable trying before. I was relieved when we were able to walk the length of the market past barking dogs and people petting him with no incident. Chris teaching him to go to his place has given him a safe place to go when someone comes to the door or when he is anxious. Our house is a much quieter home since he has a safe place. His behavior might not always be perfect but I now know what do to do when it’s less than perfect and how to support him to overcome his fears.

It was meant to be. I’d just had my Aussie-Doddle puppy a few weeks when I ran into Chris at a local outdoor restaurant with 2 of his dogs. One in training. Wishing my puppy, Winston, behaved as well we struck up a conversation and I found out he trained dogs!! I called him within days and after the 2 week program I am so very pleased. Went to visit my 2 year old grandson and what a difference. On previous visits (before training) Winston would nip to herd my g’son and growl if something was taken away. My visit after training there was none of that. Not even a low growl when the 2 year old slapped at Winston (as before). What can I say? Not only is my puppy better behaved (and I know how to continue) but they loved my dog. Nothing harsh or mean was done. It’s all out of love.
