I had decided to send my 10 year old and 13 week old to Brian out of desperation because my older dog was acting aggressive towards the puppy in a way that I am fairly certain she would have killed him, and someone would have gotten bit. I was traveling for work, my house was a dog super max prison, and I was worried. I decided to send the dogs to Brian so my family didn't have to manage the dogs. Arya was there for a while and Ranger joined eventually. The dogs seemed to be able to coexist at Brian's house, but I am not sure how much time they spent together. Arya did well with Brian's male dog, Rufus. We learned things along the way that were useful. We learned that she really enjoyed other dogs and that I would have to be very calm introducing her to other dogs. But feasible. Ranger had good dog experiences during a formative period, which is important to take into consideration. The day the dogs returned to our home was a major blow that we did not anticipate. Arya basically reacted like she did before being at Brian's house. Not knowing what to do, we had Brian take her back and decided to hold on to Ranger and think about things. My husband and I felt like we had been punched in the gut. Brian did keep Arya for about 2 weeks longer, which was good because it gave us time with Ranger and for him to get a little bigger. I had to coax Brian to try some things with Arya and my that would help ME figure out what I needed to do. Then both dogs came home. For weeks I slowly introduced the dogs and did lots of counter conditioning. I emailed Brian. He would usually respond. He gave me advice, but it was really up to me to figure out how to implement it. I am sure that I did 100 things wrong along the way, but I was really winging it and on my own. The contract is very one sided, so I was out a good chunk of money and barely ahead of where I was before I dropped them off. After a few email exchanges, I decided that I didn't seem to grasp the higher level details of what Brian was communicating and just did the best I could. The dogs were dropped off together on Jan 5. Arya returned home for good on Jan 19. It's March 19 and they are sleeping next to me, and it's been about 3-4 weeks since they were physically introduced. This service did allow me to see that Arya could be around other dogs, and that gave me confidence to work through the issue. Knowing how she behaved at Brian's with other dogs was helpful. Ranger having good dog experiences, and not getting barked at or have something traumatic happen at 13-16 weeks was probably a really good thing for his development (i.e. instead of being home with Arya). Brian is great with dogs. He has command and his pack can be very useful. His staff are very friendly and helpful. Brian is responsive to emails, but I wish his tone with me wasn't so short. I am not a dog trainer, if I was, I wouldn't have sought out him in the first place, so transitioning dog from Brian back to owner is important. I feel like my situation was a little usual and warranted some extra email exchange to give me confidence. This was a challenging situation and we both went into it being way too optimistic. It's a good thing that my family and I stuck it out. I feel like once the dogs were home together it was really on me to figure things out, which I didn't expect. So, I think for some circumstances and dogs, it works well but it's possible that the training and experience the dogs have at Brian's will not immediately translate or be adopted when they arrive home.

We just picked Arlo up from his 3rd family sleep over service. Brain, Laura and all the amazing trainers at Canine Behavioral Services have given us our life back with our sweet Arlo Boy. I'm not sure anyone else in the world would call Arlo sweet. This dog has had it rough...no pun intended. He was only 3 weeks old when he was taken from his mother and not properly weened. He then had a horrible accident at 6 months old where he was hit in the head and knocked out cold and lost 6 of his teeth. Arlo has anxiety and fear-based aggression beyond anything myself or my husband know how to handle. He has attacked and sent a dog to the hospital. He has been aggressive towards humans and animals. I honestly don't believe he would still be with us if we hadn't found the 6-week board and train program that Brian offers. Arlo is a different dog. He is so much calmer and happier. He no longer has aggression in the house but still has reactive aggression that we are working on outside of the house and in the car. Brian has been to our house to train us all, multiple times, and would come again, if we needed him. There isn't one other place on earth we would leave Arlo with or trust Arlo to learn from but Brian and his wonderful trainers. Arlo has a little way to go but every time we bring him to Brian, Arlo comes home better. My husband and I have a little way to go to be more consistent with what Brian has taught us to do, but Brian didn't hesitate to take on Arlo and my husband and myself. We thank God for him!!! To be continued.....Arlo is going back for a longer sleepover stay and extra training. I'm so thankful that the training for all of us is always available. I'd give them all 50 stars if I could, but it only goes up to 5 *****
First let me say, I have a high maintenance breed who needs a close eye kept on him. He is a lot of work at times. First let me say, I have a high maintenance breed who needs a close eye kept on him. He is a lot of work at times. I have tried a few other kennels over the years but have been lucky to be referred to Canine Behavioral Services. Oscar’s recent stay (one of many) was a 10 day stretch and he wasn’t feeling good about a week in. The communication back to me was prompt, detailed and done with care. I was given many options as to how to handle the situation from a far and knew immediately this facility was going to do everything in their power to make sure he got better. They cared for Oscar as if he was the only dog in their care, meanwhile I’m sure they were at or close to capacity. Laura was my contact and knows the dogs (as does everyone there) as if these dogs belonged to them. They care for your dogs at this facility with love. Each dog gets what is best for them. It is apparent that their number one concern is the health and safety of our pets. It comes with a huge responsibility and they rise to the occasion. Speaking from experience, not all kennels handle a sick pet this way. I can’t recommend Canine Behavioral Services enough. This comes with years of experience of owning and boarding dogs. Dogs are family and should be treated as such. Thank you Laura, Brian and everyone at your facility for treating Oscar just like he was a part of your family.
