Cali K9 Los Angeles Dog Training

**This review is for the 6 days I spent training at the North Hollywood facility. For my review on Cali K9's 3 month private/semi-private training and group classes check out my post on the San Jose location. As always you will get out what you put in, there's no magic shortcut for doing the work** While I'm based in the Bay Area, where I completed semi-private training sessions at Cali K9 and regularly attend group classes, I was in LA for a week and arranged for training sessions Mon-Fri mainly focusing on beginning protection work as well as fine tuning some obedience. Working with Zay was a pleasure, he was as knowledgeable as all the trainers I've worked with and his fresh pair of eyes gave me some great tips that have helped me refine my dog's training even more especially when it comes to heeling and reactivity. I also took my dog to the Saturday group class where we got a lot of work in proofing the training with distractions amongst other dogs in close quarters. As an added bonus, after class was over my dog got to get an extra session in with Jas which was a rare treat for us since he's mainly based in LA these days! All in all we had the same great experience getting training work in LA that we've had in the Bay. It's great to know whether in Northern or Southern California the training at Cali K9 stays consistent with high level care & training.

I came to Cali k9 last year seeking training for my 4 month old Belgian Malinois, Haki. Since then we have completed the elite in-person package and the four week board + train program. First, we completed the elite in-person package with trainer Isaiah (Zay) at the North Hollywood location. Haki learned the basics of the Cali K9 system and built a solid foundation of training. Zay is an amazing trainer and helped me become a better handler and grow in my dog training discipline. Next, we completed the four week board and train program with trainer Shay. Our goal was to get Haki service animal ready while building off his initial foundation. Shay did a fantastic job training and taking care of Haki. Since then, he has progressed tremendously and will be continuing to advanced level classes as part of this package. Lastly, shout out to Madison for her customer support and for always keeping me updated and attending to my concerns. I am very grateful for her, Jas, and the Cali k9 team. In all, training with Cali K9 has given me a peace of mind that I can't put a price on! The most valuable lesson that I have learned is to stay disciplined, patient, and consistent with training, as I am training myself as much as I am training my dog! The reality is that most of the work happens at home and in the community with our dogs and we should never expect dog trainers to do all of the work for us. I recommend this business to anyone looking to grow with their dog in training and who is motivated to put in the work! From me and Haki, thank you!!

Cali K9 Los Angeles Dog Training, is the most careless dog training facility, I’ve ever set foot in. I went to the north Hollywood Los Angeles location. I was there with my Aunt to pick up my cousins dog who had been severely injured at the CaliK9 facility. And the owner told my cousin, that they were extremely short staffed, and had no one available to take my cousins dog to the Emergency Hospital. We were given a story that has been changed about 3 or so times and they were giving the run around. The conditions of the facility were gut wrenching. when I walked in no one was there, no workers or trainers in site. Before I was even in the training center , I could already hear dogs barking from outside. As soon as I walked in I heard dogs whining towards the back of the store. There were rooms where the door was barely even open. Not to mention there were no fans on and no air conditioning on. And was a very hot day. There was no water in any of the dogs crates. And no visible kennels anywhere onsite to be seen. Finally after about 10-15 minutes of waiting for someone to speak to, a dog trainer walked in with a dog they were taking on a one-on-one walk. After trying to get the situation settled down and figured out. I asked permission if I could see where the dogs are being kept and I was shown a tiny tiny room with dogs stacked in very small crates on top of each other. The room reeked of urine. The poor dogs there just looked so miserable. The place just looks like a dump and the place just smelled really bad and reeked of urine . I strongly advise anyone who’s looking into this dog training business and is considering taking their dogs here at Cali K9 Los Angeles Dog training to look else where and save your dog the misery and suffering from the lack of care these trainers give to these poor dogs. They advertise a great training program online . But in reality it’s all a Fraud. They try to make it seem all great and send you photos of your dog looking happy. But the truth is most of the time your dog is not being treated right and definitely not being well cared for at all and there is no one there with your dog thru the night ensuring their safety and all kinds of things are happening to these dogs. One by one. A few people in my family have been there and seen it themselves how miserable these poor dogs are and the saddest looks on their faces and my Aunt worked with animal rescue groups for years. We highly recommend if you love your animal to go pick them up as soon as possible. And do not trust what the employees tell you at this company. I’m only saying this because I am a true animal lover and I can’t bare to see them continue to allow more animals be mistreated while under their supervision, like they did to my cousins dog.
