Lilith, the owner of Buddy Dog Care, is amazing at what she does, and I'm profoundly grateful for her helping me and my puppy. One cannot learn her knowledge, wisdom, and skill set in a class or acquire her gifts through day-to-day experience. Soon after I met Lilith, it became apparent that she was like no other dog trainer, operating on an entirely different level. The cliche complement of calling her a dog whisperer is odd because it's both true and insufficient. Lilith is beyond cliches, and trying to summarize how good she is or provide an effective review of her abilities is futile. A dog trainer must be much more than just a dog whisperer who intuitively understands your dog. They must also be professional, social, compassionate, communicative, patient, and dedicated. Those traits don't define Lilith; she defines those traits. Multiple people recommended Lilith, and I'm so glad I contacted her. Upon assessing my puppy (and me), Lilith affirmed what I already believed, which was that, for many reasons, I had an especially challenging pup to raise with the odds of success stacked against us. Lilith could have easily walked away and suggested I reach out to another trainer; she's very busy and in high demand and didn't need to take on the challenge we presented. Regardless of the risks, Lilith committed to helping, and now, months later, as a result of her training, dedication, and patience, my pup and I are thriving together. I couldn't be happier with Lilith and Buddy Dog Care. My dog recently played nicely off-leash with another dog near the Legacy Trail, which these days is a common occurrence. However, as I talked with the owner, I realized she was also a client of Lilith's. Both our dogs were incapable of friendly play before Lilith helped us. The only reason these two dogs could live happy social lives completely at ease with one another was because Lilith had trained them both! A bit later, other dogs joined in the play, with all the dogs and owners enjoying the scene and each other's company; none of it could have happened without Lilith's help. She isn't just helping individual dogs and their humans; she's also helping the larger community through her work. We are lucky to have her in Truckee. If you really need training help, read on! My son found our sweet guy Thor abandoned in LA and brought him up to Truckee, knowing this was a much better place for a big fluffball of a husky/malamute. He was two, had a lot of trust issues, and when found, had dog/coyote bites on him and a slash in his paw that needed surgery. He was a nightmare on a leash with pulling and seemed like he wanted to say hello to other dogs, but when they'd get close, he'd become very reactive most of the time. I did my best, but knew we needed help! Besides working with us on some basics, proper leash walking and recall off leash, Thor started in Buddy's socialization training groups where he got a chance to meet and play with other dogs who were appropriate for him. He started with some gentle, but no nonsense, ladies and then gents who could teach him the ropes of dog interactions and then transitioned to some of the more playful big boys and girls! It was so great to see him get so much more confident with other dogs and out having so much fun. Now he's graduated from training groups to regular day outings and I am able to take him on happy walks to busy places like the Legacy Trail, Donner Lake, or Trout Creek Trail. A few months ago I wouldn't have even dared those places! The work is ongoing, but my family and I can't believe the transformation and we just started in December 2022 (March 2023 now).
