Breakthrough K9 Training

We sent our one year old hound/ lab/ pit mix, Ricky to Stephanie and Lenny for their two week board and train program and it was the best money spent for Ricky! Prior to leaving, he had a lot of selective hearing and was a very nervous pup around unfamiliar things. When we picked him up, he was so much more confident and would come on his first recall. The team at BTK9 did such a beautiful job laying the foundation for Ricky and giving him the proper tools to thrive. When picking Ricky up, they showed us the tools we need to keep up with his training at home and Ricky is very happy to show off his education to us (see photo, he loves showing off his place)! To say that Lenny and Stephanie are committed individuals is an understatement; they have a true love and passion that is evident in all they do. I spoke with Lenny numerous times about my dog Cash, who had hyperexcitability and impulse control issues that were creating some safety issues with my kids. I was desperate to get him the intensive training that he needed and Lenny listened empathetically to our individual situation. He voiced his concern that we were over two hours away and he wouldn't be able to get to us in an emergency and follow up training wouldn't be feasible for us. So, he provided us the name of a reputable trainer that was much closer to us so that we could realistically get Cash the training he needed. Lenny could easily have just taken our money and called it a day, but he instead showed great integrity and love for his craft by providing us the resources that were best for Cash and our family. I am happy to report that Cash is doing wonderfully now and I am eternally grateful to Lenny and his wife for their support and morality. It is refreshing to know that there are still people out there like that. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Breakthrough K9 helped me and my rescue Violet so much. I was really struggling to deal with her people and dog reactivity as she is a bully breed with a history of abuse and neglect. I felt like I was out of options after trying several different trainers in DC with minimal results. Breakthrough K9 finally gave me the support and knowledge I needed to keep us safe. I can now confidently and safely take her on the adventures she deserves! Violet did a 4 week board&train and has gone back several times for boarding. I know I can call Lenny and his team if I have any questions or need a refresher (I’m sure I needed more training than Violet). They are a great resource.
