Breakthrough K9 Training

Lenny did a great job helping us with our dogs. We first sent our French Bulldog, Moose, who was terrorizing guests in our home and showing a lot of dog reactivity and leash reactivity. We had tried two other board and train programs without success. After a four week program at BK9, Moose came back a changed dog. He was so much better that we felt comfortable growing our fur-family with a new puppy. Our new English Bulldog, Maisel, also went to BK9 for a two week board and train to get on the same page as Moose and familiar with the training technique. Proof of success was just last week at our first family BBQ since the pandemic started. The dogs were outside and off leash, politely engaging with our guest and following our commands the whole time. Thanks BK9.

The staff at Breakthrough K9 did an incredible job with our dog Skittles! Skittles is a 4-year-old Lab Pitty mix that we rescued about a year ago. She is extremely reactive to all things outside when on walks. We have had her home for about a month now and truly see the progress she has made from her 5-week board at Breakthrough K9. Skittles is focusing on us while on walks and the e-collar has helped tremendously. About two years ago we brought our dog Merry here for a board and train. She had severe dog reactivity issues and it had finally culminated in her attacking another family member’s dog. That was when we knew what we were doing on our own was not enough and we needed professional help. Even though we lived in MN at the time, we searched nationwide for a trainer we thought could truly help her. After talking with Lenny for the first time, his honest attitude won us over. He never claimed he’d “cure” our dog and wanted us to be sure we knew that, but at the same time, he’d do everything he could to help Merry get to a better place. From day one he set realistic expectations and we felt safe entrusting our dog to him for five weeks. It has new been two years since then, and I can’t begin to say enough good things about the work Lenny and his team did. Merry is an entirely different dog. She no longer is constantly on alert, roving for threats. She is relaxed and comfortable with my husband and I in a way she never was before. When we take her in public and she sees another dog it’s like she doesn’t even care because she knows we’ll keep them from getting in her space so she doesn’t stress about it. And most importantly, they taught her to LISTEN. That’s the biggest thing I would recommend to anyone considering working with Breakthrough K9. When your dog leaves board and train, they will listen to you in a way they never have before. When they’re with you, they’re watching you and taking your lead. When you give a command, once is all you need. It’s clear she now trusts us to guide her and so she follows our lead, instead of doing her own thing and ignoring us. I can’t thank Lenny and his team enough for not only the help they were able to give Merry, but the help they gave us as well! They made sure we left our pickup session with all the knowledge and tools we needed to continue working with Merry and understand how to properly advocate for her.
