Breakthrough K9 Training

Stephanie and Lenny, along with their team, did a great job rehabilitating our 2 boxers with their reactivity. Previously, our male would lunge and bark, growling at anyone that passed us on walks. Since coming home, he has gone to parks, stores, and stays in a lying down position even while I am talking with a group of strangers. Our female has always been more reactive, and she still needs some work but that was to be expected. They gave us all of the tools we need to correct her and we see improvements every day. They have been available to answer any questions we have, even for small issues. They truly care about the success of the dogs they train, so glad we chose Breakthrough K9!

For those who have been there this will be no surprise but for anyone hasn't I will just let you know that raising and training a Great Dane puppy is an entirely different experience than with smaller breeds. When a dog has the typical "puppy brain" in a powerful150 lb. body, trouble can happen even if the dog has a wonderful temperament. A friend recommended BTK9 as they had great results with their GSD, so we booked a three week board-and-train for Harley at their facility, in the midst of his teenager "velociraptor" phase. That initial experience was excellent---Harley was clearly well treated and loved while in their care, and he learned a GREAT deal during that period: he returned to us knowing all of the basic commands and demonstrating much more self control. WE (my family and I) learned even more---BTK9 places a high emphasis on training the people. They are a balanced training facility, so we learned appropriate and safe use of tools like an e-collar to protect our boy. Recently, we were to be out of state for a family reunion, so we took advantage of the boarding option, which is a lifetime perk of BTK9 training clients. The daily fee for boarding and care also includes a refresh on skills! This time Harley was with BTK9 for eight days--- Once again it was obvious that he was well treated and loved while in their care, but he also got a much needed refresher on his off leash return command----paramount to his safety and our ability to take him out and socialize him safely----but he was also taught how to fetch!! That may sound silly but it has made a huge difference. Our attempts at playing before this were frustrating because they immediately turned into an eternal game of keep away and chase (Dane personality). Now he happily retrieves and brings the ball back, and responds appropriately to the "out" command. This provides a great avenue for giving him some extra exercise daily, and some fun, beyond his walk, and as we know: a tired dog, is a good dog. I HIGHLY recommend BTK9 as a comprehensive training facility for anyone, but especially those who have larger breeds. It is an investment in your dog, your family, and your home, and the benefits last a lifetime. You won't be sorry!

I will 10000000% recommend BreakthroughK9!! We used them earlier this year for the 4 weeks reactive dog training. Our little man, Link, was very reactive to strangers so much so that we never had anyone over, ever. He would lunge at strangers passing us at hallways, outside on the road, and or just people sitting and minding their business. It was so hard to give him the fun and free life that he deserved. We searched and read reviews and found Breakthroughk9. THANK GOD for that. Here is how our little guy is doing 3 months after his 4 weeks training below. Progress report on our Link: He is doing ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I can't believe he is the same pup we dropped off in Jan. He knows his commands, will not move from PLACE until told BREAK. We are so happy with the results. With continual training he has continued to do better every day. I can NOW take him to parks to play fetch with lots of people around, and that does not bother him at all. He keeps his attention on me and rarely gets distracted by passersby, birds, or squirrels. His reactivity to people, especially men, continues to reduce drastically. People can walk by us in hallways, narrow road sides, or even on the elevator without him trying to lunge at them. I am amazed by this. We do have his "do not pet" vest on him at all times outside, so people know not to reach in to pet. But we still get the occasional persons that come very close to ask if they can pet him. Link does not react anymore to people coming close, which i am SPEECHLESS and AMAZED by this. We still do our part and tell people not to reach in for a pet or touch as we do not want to create a stressor for him. Before the training, he would have lunged at people for coming close for a bite, but not anymore. Instead he looks at me and listens and waits for my command of "DOWN." He lays down and just watches. WOW!! We then respectfully tell people "no" and that he is not the type that likes to be petted by strangers. Long story short, haha, we are so grateful for the training you provided Link and blessed to have found K9 Breakthrough.

K9 Breakthrough training is excellent in every way. Stephanie and Lenny are very good trainers. They helped me immensely with my dog who had reactivity issues with strangers. After taking him to K9, he is now a trained and trainable, workable dog. I am incredibly grateful. The best part is that the K9 training comes home with you. I follow through with the tools and commands that Lenny and Stephanie trained my dog and I use them now thanks to their very thorough explanation and guidance. I can’t say enough about how compassionate they are with the dogs and what a big difference it has made in my dogs life and mine.
