Blackwood Canine

I’ve been coming to Blackwood Canine with my Malinois for the last year and a half to train for the sport Mondioring! I am so lucky to have found such knowledgeable people to build my dog and guide us as a team. We have made so much progress that I would never have been able to accomplish on my own. I went from knowing nothing and being a total newbie to feeling confident as I prepare to trial my dog. Thank you Blackwood for working with us, I’m thankful to have such an amazing team!

We brought home our shelter pup at 12 weeks and immediately knew we needed help getting to the good dog we wanted to have for our family. Blackwood has been absolutely amazing in teaching our pup the behaviors we want to see. She did the immersion training and then we have continued the follow up training. Each session teaches us how to continue to improve Miley’s good behaviors and we have learned so much from David. Walks are actually enjoyable and Miley is a champion camper. If you need help with your dog, I can’t recommend Blackwood enough!

We just got our dog back and could not be happier with our experience. It was a hard process for us to hand over our pup for so long, however, David and Karin were so great understanding that. They worked with us and were so great at understanding our concerns and fears, but also they were realistic about our needs. The transformation of our dog has been astounding. We know that we must continue the work, but we would have never been able to have a dog this controlled if it was not for Blackwood Canine. We are so grateful for the process, the facility, the personal nature we felt when talking to and hearing from them. This was a very hard decision, but one we know was the right one and we are so satisfied. Giving your dog up to people who you feel care about them as much as you do is very special. I would absolutely, without a doubt, send a dog to them again if needed.

Karin and David are amazing! My corgi did his evaluation where I got realistic expectations for my dogs breed regarding training and then I signed him up for the board and train. The biggest things I wanted to work on were his loose leash walking, overall neutrality when we're out in about, recall, and switching his "sits" and "downs" to having implied stays. After getting him back from his training, I can honestly say I have so much more confidence working with him and advocating for him. His walking is a dream compared to what we came in with and I feel like we finally have clear line of communication. They also do follow up lessons during the weeks after you bring your pup home from board and train, which I've loved. Getting in the moment feedback on our training skills together and getting little homework assignments for the upcoming week is lovely. It's broken down nice. Overall, 10/10 experience! I was pretty nervous to send my dog away for the duration of the training, but after getting him back I have no regrets.
