We just dropped our mini poodle off today and Kenneth was amazing throughout the entire process! He helped with any concerns we had and reassured us that our baby is in good hands. If I could leave more than five stars, I would. I rescue dogs, and I recently took in a 7-month-old dog named Obi after the family who owned him decided they no longer wanted him and was planning to euthanize him. He had spent most of his life in a small kennel and had absolutely no training. Obi was a big, energetic wrecking ball, and at the time I also had two litters of rescue puppies that I was getting healthy and ready for adoption. I knew I had to come up with a plan for Obi quickly. I took him to Blackwater K9 for an evaluation and met with Kenneth. After evaluating Obi, he recommended a six-week board-and-train program for basic obedience. It was a difficult decision because Obi wasn’t technically my dog, and it was a significant investment. I experienced sadness and frustration all at the same time, but I had committed to helping him, and I knew he deserved the opportunity. Obi stayed with Kenneth that day, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I could have made. Today, Obi is back home with me, and we go everywhere together. He is an absolute joy, and to be honest, he makes me look like a much better dog trainer than I really am! His obedience is outstanding. The training didn’t stop when Obi came home. Kenneth made it very clear that I also had a responsibility to continue the work. During our handover sessions, he patiently corrected what I was doing wrong. It wasn’t Obi—it was me. That honesty and coaching made all the difference because it taught me how to communicate with Obi the way he had been taught. The quality of training Obi received was top-tier, and this was just their basic obedience program. Blackwater K9 offers a wide variety of training programs, and I would recommend them without hesitation. I know it’s not easy leaving your dog for several weeks, but around the second or third week you’ll start receiving videos showing your dog’s progress. Seeing Obi learning, succeeding, and thriving gave me so much peace of mind and reassured me that he was exactly where he needed to be.
