BLACKBERRY GUNDOGS

This guy gets it. Rock solid dogs in the field. Great companions in the truck or back at the house. I’ve hunted over his dog, Forest. Runs like the name suggests. Hunted many times with John Blake - wild birds, ducks, dove, and even snipe. Passionate about finding wild birds and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience. It’s one thing to find a dog trainer/guide who loves it. It’s another thing, altogether, to find one who LIVES it.

I was looking for an Elhew Pointer puppy to be a younger brother to my four year old Elhew, Purdey. We hunt grouse and woodcock during the fall in ME and NH followed by quail down south in Dec/Jan. After a lot of research, I stumbled upon John and Blackberry Bird Dogs. I was looking for someone closer to my home in Boston, MA but I was intrigued by what I read about John. I initially connected with his better half who called me back immediately and asked some questions. John then called me back and we hit it off. It’s important to me to have a pet and great hunting companion who will be comfortable in the house as well as the Grouse woods. John’s approach is to train dogs with lots of love and praise. He keeps me updated via regular text messages and videos. It’s easy to tell that John loves what he does and that comes through in every interaction. He treats the dogs as his own. He’s totally dedicated and puts his heart and soul into training the pups. Can’t recommend highly enough. I hear he’s a pretty good guide too!
