I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible transformation Heather at Best Friends Academy has brought to our Newfoundland pup. As the second owner, we faced numerous challenges with our young dog who was under-socialized, felt abandoned, and had no manners. He was destructive and difficult to manage, causing significant stress within our family. Despite my belief that adopting a dog is a lifelong commitment, his behavior was becoming unmanageable. A friend recommended Best Friends Academy, and we decided to give it a try. After some private lessons, it was clear that our pup needed more intensive training. My husband insisted on either sending him for boarding training or rehoming him. Reluctantly, we sent him off for an 8-week boarding training program. During that time, I was the only one who missed him. When he returned, he was a completely different dog! Gone were the days of fear and anxiety. He now listens, stays within the yard, and is a joy to be around. We can take him to the park for walks, and he even helps herd the goats and walks with the ducks on our farm. The best part is that everyone in the family adores him now. His quirky personality shines through, and he is so much fun to be around. Heather’s dedication and love for dogs are evident in the remarkable progress our pup has made. She not only trained him but also taught us how to interact with him effectively. Her recommendations for good dog food and probiotics have been invaluable, and our pup continues to thrive on them. It’s been a year since his training, and he recently returned for boarding. He had a blast playing with the other dogs, and I love knowing that Heather meets his exercise needs, even walking him on the treadmill daily. It’s clear he missed his doggy friends after coming home. Heather is a wonderful trainer with a big heart and a genuine passion for dogs. I feel completely at ease knowing our pup is in her capable hands when we’re out of town. Thank you, Heather, for turning our challenging pup into the amazing dog he is today. DO HIRE THIS WOMAN!!! She is an awesome dog trainer! My dog, Marley, came to me through Heather. Heather was hired to rehabilitate Marley as she had been mistreated previously. When Heather took Marley in no one could even touch the dog for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks Marley began to trust Heather and she could begin training Marley basic obedience. As Marley’s confidence grew so did her wonderful personality that was hiding inside. Heather had successfully turned Marley around and fully trained her, but the agency that hired her wanted to place Marley in a foster home that was not a good fit for her, so Heather fostered her instead. That’s where I came along. I watched Marley for a week at my home and she never left! Marley was such a joy for me and we enjoyed 7 years together. She just passed away at 14 1/2 yrs. Thanks Heather for saving Marley, rehabilitating her, and letting me adopt her. My life was better because of Marley. Heather at Best Friend Academy is an outstanding trainer!

Our new rescue pup was rather unruly and a bit "wild at heart", so when Heather was recommended, we did our research and decided to send her to "boot camp" at Best Friend Academy. We were very pleased with the level of attention, training and all of their services and friendly, quality staff. The facilities were wonderful, and she was very flexible - taking in our dog on short notice, and attending to some of her special needs. She returned a changed canine: disciplined, trainable and in amazing shape! We will be sending her back for future tune-ups. We highly recommend Heather and this business to take care of your pup's needs for training and boarding.
