FirstBarkSince our now four old high energy Australian Shephard was a puppy we have attended classes at Barks and Rec. From pup scouts up to Agility classes (which we still attend) it has been a pleasure to work with everyone at Barks and Rec. The trainers are all professional, experienced and a great resource. I would highly recommend Barks and Rec for your dog training!

About Barks and Rec. Animal Training and Behavior
Barks and Rec. Animal Training and Behavior is the only facility of its kind in northern Michigan. We use modern, science-based, and empathy-driven positive reinforcement training methods to help you and your dog live your best lives together. Our trainers are highly educated in learning theory, behavior modification, ethology, puppy development, behavior analysis, and more. Our services include group classes, private and in-home training for: puppy socialization, manners and obedience; aggression, reactivity, and separation anxiety; CGC testing and therapy dog prep; and dog sports, including agility, scent work, Rally O, and AKC Fit Dog. Visit our temperature-controlled facility located just South of Chum's Corner in Traverse City.

Our puppy was not a fit for the social environment of the class due to some extreme anxiety Petra showed upon arriving for our first class. Alicea was very understanding and worked with us to make the situation a positive outcome. I appreciated her concern and willingness to help us when we needed it !
Alicea has been so wonderful to work with, and we haven't even met yet! Her communication, compassion, and clear answers have been helpful for us as we navigate how to train our rescue doggy. We were referred to her by several different people, and I would highly recommend her. Can't wait to meet you, Alicea!
