How soon should we start training our puppy, whom is 13 weeks old.
Cissy, that is a great question and the answer depends on the type of training. There are two different areas you will need to train a dog. Behavior (nipping, chewing, jumping, barking, hyper, etc.) and obedience (sit, stay, roll over, etc.). 99% of the dog training and trainers just are for obedience. Some will use treats and some shock collars. Puppies will respond to treat base obedience training at very young ages. However, just because a puppy sits for a treat does not help at all with behavior problems such as nipping, being hyper and does not help in getting your puppy potty trained. Bark Busters is one of the few training techniques that will help with both behavior and obedience and it is voice control. Bark Busters uses the dog's natural non-physical method of communication and leadership that the mother dog uses with her puppies. So, with Bark Busters no dog is to young or to old. Our 1 year old Golden Retriever is terrified of almost everything. In my years of owning and puppy walking dogs I have never had a dog with such fears and really do not know what I can do to help him with this?
Dogs are pack animals that have pecking order. We do some things that are very insignificant to us but is very significant to your dog that actually tells your dog that it is above you in pecking order. Just because you can control your dog, i.e. minds commands, put inside, outside, in rooms, etc, doesn't mean that you are leader of the pack. Being the leader of the pack in a way that your dog recognizes and communicating in a way your dog understands takes you to another level that being able to work through any problem with any dog at any age.You have a dog that is fearful and since you unknowing are telling your dog that it is above you in pecking order and nobody is above him/her in pecking order, then you dog feels that it has to be leader of the pack. Being the leader of the pack is a lot of pressure. My wife and I are simply amazed at the work Patt did for our dog. We were stunned at how trained our dog is. We have a 3 year old German Shepherd that is food, water, and toy aggressive. She loves to jump on people and run out the door. We never thought she would ever get over that, especially after bringing in a new puppy. After 1 hour, she was fixed. We highly recommend Patt to come out to your house and show you how to work with your animal for anything. He is very knowledgeable and knows what he is talking about. Do not hesitate to call them!

Training is so effective that it is hard to believe. It REALLY works! Our puppy was barking non-stop and had serious noise phobia. We researched, tried class training and even got to the point that we were trying hokey stuff. Our trainer taught us that our dog thought he had to lead us and that is what was driving his issues. We were taught how to clearly assert ourselves as pack leaders and how to tell him when to stop and start something. Within hours he was visibly relieved and calmer. Our house has returned to a peaceful state. I am so grateful to Bark Busters and cannot thank them enough!

After years of barking at every little sound and sight, I took a good friend's recommendation and called Bark Busters. Pat came out to our house for a 3 hour session to teach us about dog psychology, how to stop unwanted behavior in its tracks, and how to train our dogs to walk at our side on a leash without pulling. It was very thorough and highly effective. A few days later we had 4 front door visitors which would have resulted in pandemonium each time, but with Pat's training we had a peaceful morning with VERY little barking and no jumping up. A few months prior, our older dog started showing aggression toward our younger dog out of the blue and it was escalating quickly. Once we learned how to establish ourselves as the pack leader, the aggression went away. I could not be happier with the results we got from the very start. We have our sanity back and are enjoying our dogs again. I would recommend Bark Busters to anyone who wants to be a happier dog owner.
