Balanced Pack K9 Training

Ren came to the rescue when my new rescue dog suddenly became very aggressive with me. Another trainer referred me to her and I can see why. Ren is calm and confident and an amazing listener. While she absolutely made progress with our dog on the first session, she helped us assess whether we were up to the task of dealing with him given the violent nature of the attack. I'm sure she could handle him, but he's too big for me and I have to get past the trauma. She was amazing: patient, self-possessed, grounded, kind, respectful, capable, and no b.s. I can see why she gets the respect of animals and owners alike. I can tell she goes deep with animals. Sadly, we ended up surrendering the dog to the rescue he came from, a decision she supported and helped us come to, though she really didn't seem biased. It was the right decision for us and hopefully the rescue can train him out of the aggression and not put him down. Because of Ren, I haven't given up and hope to get a dog again so we can work together with a better outcome. Thanks, Ren!

Before working with Ren, I was at a complete loss as to how to help my huge dog be OK in the world. He is a highly reactive dog, and he doesn't care about treats- especially if he's already agitated. He would jump crazily and go nuts on the leash when he saw other dogs, people, trucks, etc. Ren gave us the tools to teach him how to react in more acceptable ways, and I'm not anxious about taking him out anymore. With her expert guidance and advice, my reactive dog has had some big wins already. Walking close to a mailman and his truck, being approached by a wheelchair, walking in close proximity to another big dog- and my (now) well-behaved pooch was the perfect gentleman. I have a doberman that I've been challenged with for a few years. She's not mean, never has gotten into a fight but she's had a nervous problem and would not calm down and and relax. She was running around constantly and getting into trouble, stealing food. If we had company she would continually annoy everyone. This went on for several years. I was upset and not able to decide if I should find her a new home and let someone else deal with this problem. I've had other dobermans that we're easier and I have loved the breed. I spoke to Ren who was hopeful she could settle her down if we did a 5 day board and train. I agreed and she took her and worked with her. When I got her back she was a changed dog. Ren had trained her on a prong collar and also an e-collar. For the first time in years Coco listening. Ren taught me how to change my approach to Coco so she didn't return to old habits. We are doing great and she is a pleasure to have around now. She listens to commands and settles down when I tell her to. Prior to meeting Ren at Balanced Pack, our dogs ruled our lives. They barked and jumped on visitors, the puppy would screech if she was left In her kennel, they would chase the cats and fight with each other. We tried classes and in home trainers but nothing was really getting through. The dogs needed structure but I didn’t know how to start, but after listening to several Jeff Gellman podcasts, I decided to google balanced training and Balanced Pack K9 popped up. Ren Marshall, the owner, took my two little maniacs and in three short days returned two obedient dogs. More importantly, she took time to train us the theory and techniques to keep the dogs on track. Her kind coaching empowered us to take control of our house and by doing so, has helped both dogs be less anxious and reactive. We’ve had no more tantrums from the puppy and they now don’t jump and nip when greeting people. Ren continues to check in and mentor us as this is a process.
