Back to Balance Canine

Dallas and her team changed our home life! We have a very smart and driven Australian cattle dog and also a young Labrador and so we got to see how board and train benefited both the adult that needed behavior modification and the puppy that needs regular obedience. Both our dogs now know the same commands and follow the same rules - and regularly use their at home treadmill as well as their place boards. We have tools for handling our older dog who used to run at the front door barking at full speed and actually can stop his behavior. We have tried many trainers and nothing worked before. Our dogs also love their trainers- we were worried it was too strict - but the dogs really like the structure and discipline to know what rules to follow. Would 100% recommend them if you want to have a well behaved dog- and you are willing to do the work to reinforce what the dog learned.

Our dog Lola was part of the 6-week board and train program. We couldn’t have asked for better results. The trainers were in communication with us for the duration of the training by providing update videos and explaining the training as it’s happening. I can’t recommend the training at Back to Balance enough. We can finally take Lola with us when we got to parks, beaches, and breweries. Her recall is excellent and she has learned to lay next to us in a calm and relaxed state no matter the distractions around her (dogs, kids, squirrels, etc.). .

I took my 6 month old golden retriever to Back To Balance Canine. Bottom line: AWESOME! This is my first puppy - we've had other dogs, but were rescued adults who didn't have this kind of energy. Our pup was on the energetic side - good temperament - but we had to implement training pretty quickly to make sure he didn't get into mischief. I followed a lot of internet trainers - a lot of great stuff out there... but I knew that I could only get my pup to a certain level and there were gaps that I didn't know how to fill. (I still recommend you research what kind of training you want to do so you can pick what's best for you and your pup). I thought I had researched a lot about getting a puppy, but you don't really know the work until you get one. I had read that a lot of pups are given up for adoption around 8 months... I kind of know why now and I knew I needed some help to avoid that. So I started looking board and train facilities and checked out B2B based on a neighbors recommendation. I loved how my neighbor's dog was really obedient on commands, but still had his own personality. When I visited the facility for our initial evaluation, their facility looked amazing for dog training. Especially that they would be able to train through distractions with other dogs and other animals. Dallas was great, clearly knows her stuff. We did the 4 week board and train which worked amazingly well for some summer trips. Jensen was our trainer and she kept us up to date on our pups training with videos, etc. They are also available through texts and that's continued past the training to help answer questions. When we did our first on-site training about 3 weeks into it - you could see the difference in his calm controlled state. The next week we did another couple lessons at the park and I was amazed at how well he responded to recall, staying in downs, etc. despite some pretty big distractions (other dogs, kids, etc.). It really was about me gaining confidence and me being trained in what our pup already knew how to do. Taking him home, Jensen set the right expectation that we need to keep on the training (even keeping it like a board and train for the first few weeks) to solidify our pups training in our home. A few highlights: 1) We used to have to watch him literally like a toddler all the time. B2B teaches the "place" command and that was a game changer where he'd would stay on his bed while we did our normal activities. 2) I took him to coffee shop and he was super calm despite being in a new place, new people. 3) We took him to our church's picnic. Earlier in the summer we took him to the same event and he nearly tore my shoulder off trying to say hello to every person, dog, etc. This time, I could place him in a down, and he was calm as all kinds of folks (kids/adults) came and said hello. There was even another dog there that charged at him and he stayed calm and didn't react. 4) I've gained confidence that he has a strong recall, even when he's got his biggest distractions - food and playing with other dogs. We just had a follow up lesson with Jensen and I think we continue to grow in our skills. This is an investment no doubt, but so was getting puppy - he is going to be part of our lives hopefully for the next 10-15 years. I am excited that I don't' have to wait 2-3 years for him to be an adult and chill out for me to get back to enjoying life - and we can do that together now. The other added bonus is that I know B2B will be there through the rest of our journey also.

This is hands down the best thing we could have invested in... We have two french bulldogs - Gnocchi and Ravioli. -Gnocchi is 4 and overall was a really good dog. Her biggest issue was lunging at other dogs. - Ravioli is 2 and he was a big humper and also really lunged at other dogs. We had boarded our dogs to Back to Balance for 4 weeks and 6 weeks. In that time, Dallas and Jensen were able to turn our two pups into the most obedient dogs. We never would have thought our dogs would be able to off leash. Now we are comfortable walking anywhere and our dogs will follow. In the past, we had sent our dogs to "dog camp" and they definitely abused them as they were very anxious about going back. Gnocchi and Ravioli were ecstatic to see the team each time we went back for in person trainings. Would 1000% recommend.
