BA K9 Training

I took my 1 yr old puppy to be trained, he sent me a pic of my dog on a treadmill. When I picked uo my dog, The trainer decided to jab her the ribs as she yelp loudly. I am not here for a dominance dog lesson. Plus my dog was without water for 6 hours in 90 degree heat. My dog drank about 1/3,gallon of water when she got home. The common rule in 90 degree heat is 10 -15 minutes, with out water. You should ask him for more than one video of your dog and see how he trains. Not a pleased visit. Won't be going back.

Last summer, we adopted a two-year-old Great Pyrenees rescue. We named her Maddie, but we sometimes lovingly referred to her as "Mad Dog". Maddie was quite a handful when we first brought her home. She was a bolter (she ran away from us several times), she was highly reactive with other dogs, and she had some serious issues with food aggression and, in general, resource guarding. We were pretty overwhelmed by the challenges we faced with Maddie, and we knew she needed some serious professional training. We had several friends who told us to contact BAK9. They had heard great things about many successful rehabilitations of troubled dogs. So, we contacted Ben Austin. He came out to our home and performed an evaluation of Maddie (and us!). We then followed up with a couple days of day training. In the end, Ben really felt that the board and train program would be best suited for Maddie, so we enrolled her in the program. Maddie spent five weeks at BAK9. During that time, we had several sessions where we able to visit with her and gain some mini training sessions with Ben and his extremely qualified staff. When Maddie came home, her transformation was remarkable. What was once a very wild dog was now a very calm and content dog, all while maintaining her fun-loving puppyish spirit. When Ben delivered her home, he walked us through all the details of her e-collar, along with important obedience commands. The “place” command, which she knew extremely well after her training, has been so helpful to us…especially to calm her down when visitors come over. Since her return home, Ben has provided a couple of private follow-up sessions…just to work through any issues we’re seeing. He is always very willing to help in any way. We know that he truly wants Maddie to be happy and for us to be successful as her pack leader. We plan to continue to take Maddie to BAK9 for future boarding because we know she loves it there. At BAK9, she will be loved and treated with respect, and her training will continue in a structured environment. If you have a dog who needs a little serious training, we would highly recommend Ben Austin and his BAK9 staff.
