I adopted my chow/corgi mix at 16 weeks old from a nearby shelter. From the moment I brought him home I knew he had some insecurities and fearful behavior that needed to be addressed. I started agility and obedience with him right away, but sure enough, around 6 months old he began showing signs of leash reactivity toward other dogs. We worked with multiple trainers before finding Kathleen. We completed three one on one sessions to help clarify the communication lines between dog and owner. The results were amazing. By our last session, I was able to calmly walk past multiple dogs in downtown Newburyport with little to no reactivity. I continue to use the recipe Kathleen designed and it is making all the difference! Kathleen has a wonderful way of communicating her knowledge to her clients. I contacted Kathleen when my 14 month old GSD bit two people in 2 weeks. She spent a half hour on our first call together going over legality, owner responsibility, dog behavior. We outlined a plan and met 3 times. Twice at her home because he was territorial, and the final time at my home. We reviewed the proper fit and use of prong and e-collar, along with treating for dog doing what was asked. She helped me understand the behavior and how to manage and correct it. The last lesson she also worked with my JRT and fitted her with a prong collar. We worked on doorbell ringing and people entering the house. She was concise, presenting me with a solid plan of action, and I’m confident that I’m in charge. I would highly recommend Kathleen.
