Hi Tony, I’m very sorry to hear you feel this way about your experience. I’d like to clarify a few important details regarding your miniature poodle, Banks. During his initial evaluation day, Banks unfortunately bit one of our staff members due to his high level of fear. Following that incident, we recommended that he visit a minimum of five times prior to his upcoming boarding and training dates to help him form positive associations with our staff and property before staying here full-time. Our approach with fearful or undersocialized dogs is intentionally gentle and based on behavioral science. We never force touch or hand-feed dogs who are fearful, as this can increase anxiety and cause regression. Instead, our trainers calmly toss treats near the dog to build trust at their pace. This process helps prevent further trauma and allows the dog to learn that we are safe. Although we requested multiple socialization visits well in advance, we were contacted to schedule them less than two days before Banks’s projected boarding date. Despite the short timeline, we still worked to accommodate you and even offered to have Banks stay temporarily with the owner of Atlanta Dog Trainer, Shelby, to personally evaluate and comfort him in a lower-stress setting. I also reached out to you by phone on October 8 to discuss your concerns further, but did not receive a return call. We truly care about each dog’s well-being and would never handle a fearful or anxious dog without patience and compassion. I’m sorry that our process wasn’t more clearly explained during your visit.
