ARF Inc Dog Training

10 and a half years ago I decided to get a border collie puppy while being a full time school teacher. I knew that if I didn't want my house to be torn apart by a very border BC I needed a good trainer! I reached out to some other BC owners I knew and all led me to Janice. We had a great experience and I learned A LOT about dog behavior, what to look for in other dogs, as well as my own, and how to build a positive relationship with my dog. He even boarded at her facility, and loved it. EVERYONE who meets him comments on how well behaved he is, I owe this to Janice and how well she trained not only the dog, but the human! I just recently got a puppy and will definitely be reaching back out to her again!

The facilitator of this business has issues with certain breeds of dogs. I requested to be added to an upcoming group class with my 16 week old AKC registered Dalmatian.I filled out an online form, giving details about her and our family dynamics. She is generally very well behaved, has an excellent pedigree, and comes from dogs of good temperament , but like any puppy, was active and jumpy/mouthy, and needed training, hence the need for classes. I was contacted via telephone by Janice , who seemed frantic and distraught about my 'out of control' dog. I was told that I would need to have a PRIVATE evaluation before being allowed into a group setting. I was completely shocked, and asked why the need for a private eval, reminding her that, again, we are talking about a rambunctious PUPPY. She responded with, "Well, she IS a Dalmatian!" That was all I needed to hear to realize that my dog would not get the respect and fairness needed in order to be properly trained. Unfortunately, I am still having a hard time finding a trainer that does hold breed biases.
