Arcadian Canine LLC

Our two dogs did a multi week board and train with Arcadian Canine. Prior to training they would be super excited and jump up on anyone that came to our house. We would frequently need to keep them outside or locked up to have company over. Since training they still get excited and wag their tails and say hi, but the jumping has stopped and we are able to redirect them both away and to quickly settle down. Their walking behavior on leash is also way better. They used to both pull constantly when on leash, but now I can walk them both on loose leashes even when a bunny crossed our path. We have recommended them to multiple people in our personal lives and would absolutely recommended them again to people in the future.

My sister and I were pretty nervous to get dog training for our dog Dasom, but we knew she needed it. She spent 6 years in a shelter, and had some pretty bad leash reactivity to other dogs. There are a LOT of options for training out there, and we were so overwhelmed by the options and prices and figuring out what was good and what was bad advice. Ultimately, we bit the bullet and got a 6 week one-on-one course with Arcadian Canine, and let me tell you it was worth EVERY penny. Dara, our trainer, was a joy to work with. She was and is knowledgeable, funny, clear, and concise with her training recommendations. She adjusted quickly when certain strategies didn't work for our dog (such as using a slip lead, which Dasom has an aggressive reaction to) and tailored the training as needed. One of our biggest fears was the trainer forcing our dog to follow a specific regime even if it didn't work for her, but that anxiety was quickly assuaged. Dara explained every method she employed, including what is probably going on in Dasom's head when we do certain things, and it made each training session soothing and, most importantly, fun and exciting for Dasom! Our dog started greeting Dara like a friend by the second session! As for results, while the training didn't instantly fix Dasom's reactivity, it gave us a plethora of tools, and her fits get shorter and shorter every day we employ them. We were able to take her to Doggie Dash in Portland and she performed beautifully without a single incident with any of the dogs there. We have no doubt that, with consistency, she'll only get better. If you're on the fence, swing on off of it and invest in this training. We are so satisfied with it and the results, and will definitely employ them again if Dasom (or us) needs a refresher <3

We had an absolutely outstanding experience with Arcadian Canine, and especially with our trainer, Mafu. We enrolled our 7-month-old puppy, Boo, in their program, and the transformation has been incredible. Boo made tremendous progress in impulse control, loose leash walking, and reactivity to various environmental triggers. The difference in his behavior is night and day, and it’s clear that Mafu’s training was both thoughtful and highly effective. One thing that really stood out was the level of communication and transparency throughout the process. Mafu provided daily video and photo updates, along with detailed written logs explaining what they worked on and how Boo was performing. Seeing these videos of “real-time” training also helped us appreciate Mafu’s deep expertise and skill in dog-handling, and gave us a template for what we should continue doing in our day-to-day training. Beyond the training itself, Mafu’s dedication to us as owners was exceptional. From the initial consultations through the follow-up lessons after the board-and-train, he consistently took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. We never felt rushed, and it was clear he genuinely cared about setting Boo up for long-term success. We walked away not just with a better-trained dog, but with a clear, actionable plan to continue reinforcing everything Boo learned during his board-and-train. If you’re looking for dog training that’s paired with incredible care and communication, we can’t recommend Arcadian Canine (and Mafu) highly enough.
