Ann Gafke's Dogschooling

Our objective was to have a well-behaved pet. With consistent training, our eager dog became much more. He became a certified therapy dog - a favorite visitor for hospital patients and staff, a dependable de-escalator in family court, and a reading partner for children. Through Ann Gafke’s Dogschooling, we found opportunities to earn obedience certifications, achieve fun trick titles, and serve our community with purpose.

We have been through Puppy Kingergarden and Level 1+. At Ann Gafke's Dogschooling their emphasis is on training you to train your dog. Their experience level is extensive and they can spot a problem before you even know it has started. The group lessons are a great social learning event where you get to know both owners and dogs and learn about their training difficulties and their successes. Additionally, you can sign up for private sessions (at no additional cost) to work on any specific issues. Everyone we have worked with has been very helpful and all have emphasized the importance of having fun with your dog in their training. The price is very cheap for the amount of training and attention that is given to you. Essentially you become a member of their family.

I’ve been training with the Gafkes since 2006, and now have my third Australian Cattledog enrolled in school. Throughout my training journey, they have been welcoming, encouraging, and flexible. They emphasize teaching the humans, so that we may be good teachers for our dogs. All dogs have a place here, not just “perfect” dogs, and the Gafkes have bent over backwards to help me train with my current dog, who is deaf. Creativity, problem-solving and a positive outlook are encouraged and role-modeled by Ann, Roger and Marcia. I have learned so much from them, and will continue to train here for as long as I have dogs!
