I would give this organization zero stars if I could. I think all the positive reviews come from people who were arbitrarily by opinion chosen to receive help from this organization. However, I notice they have four-star reviews because there are people reviewing them who have never used them. Never had any experience with them, so I don't know if these people are paid or what. Are they, VetDogs? Did you pay for these reviews? No one talks to the rest of us who passed the pre-screening and then are sent an email that says hey a decision has been made and then we are sent to another website to receive the letter to turn us down. We are being turned down for either being too disabled OR being not disabled enough. When an organization has no criteria for the community and the vulnerable populations it is serving, then what are those populations supposed to do? When you receive a letter of turn down, the only thing they tell you is that you need to train a dog in your home. They don't give you any specifics why you turned down with no opportunity to even appeal the decision. I am literally the perfect candidate to receive a service dog, but this organization made a very opinion based with no medical records decision, it is arbitrary. Do not use this organization and do not apply to it if you are a veteran, it is not run by actual veterans. The organization is discriminatory and are not transparent. This is unethical. FYI: They do not answer the phone at any of the numbers given and one of their numbers that is listed as their main phone number is a fax machine. Edit: After reading through some of the other reviews that were negative, I now realize what the situation is. I didn't want to believe it, but it seems to be pointing towards that. I wanted to give VetDogs the benefit of the doubt, but now I know this has to do with racism. Just another racist organization that only serves the white community of veterans. People who are Black, Indigenous, Asian, Middle Eastern, Latino or any other person of the global majority avoid this organization at all costs. Take a look at all the positive reviews, the evidence is there, the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY are white men, with a few white women in between who do not have any visible disabilities.

Im a purple heart veteran and registered nurse and americas vetdogs denied me a service dog. They ironically claim to help veterans and first responders. Im just confused on who they're actually helping. I completed several phases, got a ton of paperwork filled out by my doctor, my psychiatrist, my supervisor, my wife, human resources, spent hours video taping my entire life, interviewed a couple ppl, and waited months for them to tell me they were unable to match me with a service dog. Unbelievable

Valerie an employee is not a nice person and is quite demeaning. She spoke to me as if I were not smart, but in reality, I hold three degrees, including a doctorate. I am also a disabled United States Navy Lieutenant veteran and a business owner. She told me that training a service dog is not an easy task. I had to catch myself from laughing, as I have been mobilized, faced threats, or lived as a woman of color in America. Being the only person of color in the training. I left training early with Cooper because I felt it would not be fair to him; I was immediately tasked with developing three university courses. I cried a lot, but of course, Valerie didn’t care. I was told I could come back, but Cooper would not be available; I dismissed it with a nonchalant, "Oh, really, I did not know that." When I returned home, I was devastated without him. I texted the trainer to check on Cooper and said he was sad that night. 🥹 When I attempted to check on him, I was told not to. I then emailed the office, explaining that I meant no harm and that I had deleted their contact information, including emails and phone numbers, to ensure I wouldn't reach out again. I reapplied, and as you all know, I received a template letter stating that I could not remain in the program. Now I understand the comments that have been made about Valerie; they are true. She is not friendly and often speaks to people disrespectfully, treating them as if they are beneath her. However, in this case, she is the one who is beneath me, Dr. Childs. I believe that America's VetDogs program may not be inclusive of people of color, but relatively just a token few, or an employee may believe she is better. Shame on you! It has been over a year, actually, and I still think about him; his dog items are still here.
