Alpha & Omega Working Dogs - Dog Training

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience. Often the trainers looked stressed and admitted they were short staffed and tired/didn’t want to be there, responses are often delayed and not answered within 72h or longer bc busy, a few times did get a return call until a week later.Tried leaving my dog with them during the day, don’t get updates and unclear of how much they are truly let out bc got him back covered in urine, but he’s potty trained… also told me he didn’t eat his food and when I asked where it was, told me they threw it in the trash and couldn’t get it. Said if they don’t eat at the time they give it, goes in trash…food is expensive, why not save it for another day or donate it, and why not ask owner or tell them that? Multiple times trainers called out so session was switched to someone I never worked with or they were late..then did repetitive basic training that we already had down and felt like it was a waste bc did not learn anything new. Asked one of the trainer what was the next level of training once they pass, said use shock collar to learn more tricks.. not sure if this applies to everyone or some that need it, but I did not want to use a shock collar for my calm dog. I felt misguided to be forced to buy their own leash and collar for training, we don’t use it bc it doesn’t work for us… I bought a gentle leader after and it fixed everything!!! Long story short, this is for some but not for all and be warned or red flags… bc you want the best for your fur baby!!!

If you have a reactive dog I would not recommend coming here. While their Reactive Rehab class sounds good in theory, having multiple dogs who are fearful/aggressive all in the same room every week just did not help my fear-aggressive dog much to evolve his mindset even after more than 6 months in their program. Attending classes here felt monotonous, doing the same thing for weeks on end seeing little to no change, and there was never any indication to me how they felt my dog’s training was progressing in relation to what was expected after x amount of time. I was always the one who had to let them know if I felt like a change was needed instead of feeling like THEY were evaluating my dog’s progress over time. We also barely got to work on my dog’s stranger reactivity as the sessions were so focused on his dog reactivity. They try to fix all of the dogs’ reactivity the same way instead of trying to get to the root of each dog’s issues to more effectively help them. I appreciated the help I got from some of their newer trainers there like Sal (who aren’t paid enough in relation to what I paid for my program there, especially to manage the reactivity class), but felt like the owner and administration there did not really care to put in effort towards helping my dog achieve better results. Scheduling sessions was a nightmare as they would always wait till the last minute to do scheduling for the following month. Even at the end when I mentioned I was moving on, admin tried to pretend they cared about scheduling a “graduation” for my dog and never did. I hope that they take a hard look at their reactivity program and reevaluate.
